zoology is some what related to medical sciences and most of the doctors opt zoology.any subject can be marks scoring with preparation,if you draw figures and give to the point description you can get good score.if you have medical background then zoology will not be difficult for you.
you can check the syllabus like Khakan said.
regards.

Same happened to me when I started my prep two years ago. Go for Geography, journalism, sociology and some history may be ( US history+ punjabi or some 200 marks history)

I advise you not to go for zoology. ( There is no subject in CSS which is related to MBBS. we have never studied zoology etc. As all subjects are new go for the subjects for which you can collect the material easily + they are consistantly giving good score. )

@afrms I also agree one can gain good score in any subject after hardwork.

Default Zoolgy and medical doctors

well i m a medical doctor and opted for zoology
i want to share my experience regarding it
First of all zoology is very much related to medical sciences and if someone is a doctor then its very easy to cover the syllabus of zoology in a short span of time
as there are two papers of zoology so first let me tell u abt zoology paper II

it has got five sections,,,namely genetics, physiology, evolution, cell biology n ecology
if u review past papers then it is evident that just out of physiology and cell biology there appear around 3 to 4 questions,,and although I m no authority but if i tell u my strategy I did not study even a single word of these two sections bcoz I thought that these 4 questions can be attempted by the core knowledge a doctor possesses after doing MBBS,,and just to be at the safer side i also prepared two to three questions each of genetics, ecology and evolution as well
so after all this study i can tell u that a medical doctor can prepare 90% of whole paper II syllabus with in very less time,,,,,,,
Now paper I

It has got two sections
one related to invertebrates and the other of vertebrates
one has to attepmt two questions out of each section
first let me tell u abt Chordates section

a lot of very general questuions are asked in this section which are very easy to answer for a medical doctor like for example from CSS 2008 paper the question asking for functions of skin in vertebrates and the structure of a bone in vertebrates,,,,I think every doctor knows that humans are vertebrates so i think even a first year medical student can answer these questions,,so this a plus here
secondly in this section questions are asked regarding comparative anatomy,,,here again medical doctors are at an advantage as u know there r just few basic evolutionary lines like amphibians , reptiles , birds and mammals,,so in every comparative abatomy question u will not have to study the related comparative anatomy of mammals as a doctor already knows the anatomy of humans which r mammals
so it becomes easy to prepare section II of Zoology paper I,,and it will npt take much of time
So the problem lies only with Zoology paper I section I

so how to deal with it
I think first of all it contains certain topics which we have studied in FSc and thus they provide a good base to start with
seecondly most of the questions asked in this section are of very general natutre,, one can get the idea abt it by just reviewing the past 8 to 10 yr papers which r all available on this website

Now abt MCQs,,,tellin u my experience,,i dint prepare any mcq but i was easily knowing 32 to 34 mcqs from my past medical knowledge in both papers combine

my only concern regarding this subject is the scoring status
i scored 121 in it,,,it might be that i havnt prepared the subject well
but another worthy member afrms scored 124 in this subject although she happens to be an mphil in this subject,,, @ afrms kindly give ur view abt the scoring ststusi dont know how much others scored in this subject
so finally i would say that if someone is a medical doctor and has got less time to study then go for zoology bcoz a dr can get reasonable score in this subject by spending very less time so finally make a cost benefit analysis keeping i mind ur own priorities

@ aj khan
well you have given a comprehesive analysis of zoology for medical students.
my sister is also a medical student she has gone through zoology syllabus and found it to be relatively easy for her and has also decided to go for it.

yes the chordate part is tough and lengthy, but if you have the time you can easily manage it.you must practice diagrams and make notes of the topics that are important one.
you need also to do a comprehesive study of past papers to find out the trend of paper making.the paper is not difficult but we leave lot of lacunea in our preparation.like i prepared zoology in 3 days before my zoology paper.
and now mcqs well paper 1 mcqs are tough if i wouldhave got 5-8 right answers i would hv been easily getting 75 marks in zoology paper 1.

so the bottom line is zoology is not tough subject but is a lengthy and technical one.one has to give time to this subject and with little effort you can get good marks.

one more thing my marks in zoology are 125.do you anybody who has got 130-140?
regards

well one of my friend, another commoner from 37th ctp, has revealed to me that he has scored 150 marks in zoology
