Default Why Science subjects are not the popular choices?

AOA!

Friends! I have chosen Physics & Mathematics as my optionals. I have a strong aptitude and interest in these two. But i have seen that these subjects are not among the usual choices of most of the aspirants which makes me think again. Can some body tell me any reasons for this? Also suggest me a 3rd optional that can be prepared in a shorter time

Several reasons exist. Mostly engineers/doctors or students who do masters/bachelors in science subjects do not go for CSS. The overwhelming majority is of arts students.

And out of the science students who go for CSS, most want to play safe - they opt other optionals - this probably is because of the phobia of these subjects being low scoring or the fact that the aspirants who opt these do not have complete grip of the subject [ You ll agree that not every masters in chemistry or an engineer can handle the CSS chemistry or physics etc ].

I myself have opted for Applied Maths and Physics. Its time to be courageous and brave. Those art subjects are so so boring...

Arts subjects are boring but there is an advantage that they are informative. May be this is the reason that most people go for these subjects

a myth surrounds science subjects that they are [B]solid marks subjects [B]from which it is inferred that it is either zero marks or full.
all depends upon your aptitude. about social sciences it is said that they can help you in compulsory subjects. also they want to "play safe". but those who play safe will always just do that: play (no offence meant to anyone)

science subjects are for those who say," aar ya paar". they do not play, they just do it.

css is not life remember. if you want to live you have to do things for the sake of doing them and not to achieve your desires.

difference is of aptitude. and aptitude is one's personality.

hope i have have confused you even more.

regards

Haha.. So true. I am going to the exam with exactly the same attitude.. Aar ya Paar...If i got through well and good else no regrets.

But at least, the dare to challenge the science subjects must exist. Reading those boring arts stuff out of hypothetical fear of the subjects we have already studied is too a defensive approach.

So good that am not playing as per your definition

but a piece of advice still. an arts student can not study science. but a science student can study arts better than than an arts student himself! if you do not believe me, must pick an arts book sometime.

na there is one more thread. using tour words arts may be dull and boring but sciences are dry.

so after every little while you do need something to moisten your throat. and that is arts.

some topics of physics are mare's nest...i would cope with them through internet ...the main quandary is like what to do of numerical problems like you can solve it if you have grip on the topics or they entail exceptional scrutiny?

the numericals in papers are very simple. rarely comes a numerical in paper which gives you a headache.
just go through the examples in halliday resnick and if possible serway and jewett. just go through the examples and that would be it. here is download link for halliday resnick and its solution manual. if it does not work let me know on physics forum
