Sociology vs International law
 

i am tinghinking of replacing sociology with international law.Reason being the unpredictable nature of sociology paper with regard to general questions asked.I know international law is difficult than sociology .I want to know the general trend of international law paper and its scoring potential

[B][COLOR="SeaGreen"]Well imran i had both these papers. Both papers are generally considered easy papers of CSS. But if you take both of them very closely you will et to know, Objective in I.LAW is usually not easy as there are very few rather rarely books available on objective with regard to I.LAW but sociology gives you a real present as far as its objective is concerned bqs most of the time it comes from past papers.....And it is very easy to digest it as well.
If you have a look at subjective nature of both papers. I.Law is relatively with shorter course but a little technical, sociology is relatively lengthy but a a little more easy, general, and very much related to real life. As far as general nature of questions is concerned, i would bluntly say there is no paper left now in CSS with few exceptions in which general or Current Affair sorta questions are not asked. In every single subject you will interact with atleast one general nature question so you should not bother that. You should rather see where your interest lies....[/COLOR][/B]

Thanks for prompt reply.My interest lies in sociology but i am disappointed with y attempt of sociology paper2011 despite detailed study from horton as well as shankar rao.

Why are you disappointed. On which question you are not satisfied. Do illustrate, may be you had attempted well but assessed wrongly...

This year was my maiden attempt of CSS and i had opted for both Sociology and International law. To be honest, contrary to the common perception about the scoring nature and short syllabus of IL, i found it depressing in the final hours of preparation. Thanks to Allah the almighty it paper went well, yet it was more technical as compared to sociology. Sociology paper was based on very common questions and given your preparation from Horton and Hunt's version, you should have been happy by now.

My dear CSS papers never require you to be the master of the subject, rather it is based on your concepts and power of expression. You have already appeared in sociology once and you will be at advantage next time if you keep it. On the contrary, if you opt for international law, you will have to start from the scratch. You won't find much time then. Therefore, be tactful and go through the last ten years papers of sociology and develop idea about each and every question. You would definitely understand the Psyche of the examiner.
