AOA,

Well as a matter of fact there is a trend of low scoring and high scoring subjects whether deadly doctor agrees or not. This time people have miserably failed to score in political science inspite of having their master degrees in political science and working hard for this subject and now they are also thinking otherwise and advising other ppl as well not to go for political science ever if u want to score well in the written part.So the moral of the story is to go for those subjects in optionals for which u have aptitude and which have good scoring trends in the past like history subjects, journalism, sociology, psychology, geography ,Arabic, muslim law & jurisprudence, Public ad/Business ad or any regional language. You will definitely do well in the written part Inshallah if u select among the abovementioned subjects. And don't be overconfident on any such subject by saying that it is my own subject and i have studied it thoroughly in my masters or i have done my master in this subject. Because in the end you will have nothing, but only regrets.

In CSS every year there is a trend that one or two subjects fetches extra ordinary marks like Islamic History in 2009 and Political Science proved to be a nightmare. So there is no hard and fast rule that we can easily differentiate that some subjects are high scoring while other can put you down on your knees.

This year in 2010 result will make it clear whether Islamic History will lead or some other subject will be replaced as high scoring subject. Also LUCK matters if you had opted the subject and that proved a high scoring game.

A.O.A!
I think hard-work makes a subject High or Low scoring. For example, A number of candidates in CSS have only one optional subject of 100 or 200 marks which is relevant to their field of study. But they also obtain good score in other selected optional subjects just bcz of hard-work. Hope for the Best!
Regards!

Lightbulb Reason

Yes subjects are high scoring and low scoring but a subject is high scoring only for those who have command over it like statistic, every one can not opt it, we should go for those subjects in which we have some speciality.

Subject score depends on the checker. Some time a checker gives marks generously and some times on the average. It is wrong to say that some subjects are high scoring and some are low scoring.
The main reason of such a trend is dependent on the checker.
Every subject is good if one has full command over that.
Example is of C.Law, now a days low scoring trend but it was a high scoring subject before 2007.
so do not indulge yourself in this confusion, choose the subjects over which u have good command and leave the rest on luck.

dear friends concept of high scoring subjects and low scoring subjects is some what reality.IF a subject earns 20 marks on avg. more than other subjects it means it is high scoring as we see M.History in current scenario earns 20,30 marks more than other history papers. No doubt hard work pays but it z some where this trend also pays.Tc

I think there should not b any doubt about the role of paper checker in scoring good marks in all the examination and particularly in competitive examination. i myself have to face this sort of situation in 2009 when i could get on 33 marks in journalism whereas all of my friends( i was second to none in journalism in my friend's circle) got 60+ marks in the same subject. Moreover quite surprisingly all the candidates of my row and the rows b4 and next to me got the same result with only one exception who got 53 marks. So according to my point of view the checkers inability or his anger upon any matter of his personal life brought his wrath upon us.

In my view Economics is the lowest scoring subject in CSS. Beware all aspirants! I got 65 marks out of 200.....failed by one mark.
