as far as the level of interest is considered, psychology proves to be an interest catching subject resulting in better under standing.moreover it has a good scoring trend. Islamic history on the other hand requires one's due interest and analytic approach regarding it. if you have the aptitude for it you should go for it.

Psychology is very interesting as well as scoring subject. While Islamic History & Culture is also scoring subject but it requires much time and effort. One should select optional subjects according to one's aptitude/interest considering the scoring trend of these subjects. For better choice, you may go through the course content/past papers of above mentioned subjects. Best of luck.

With due respect to the members, I'd like to differ from the point that Psychology is a scoring subject. It has been slaughtered in CE-2013 by incorporating subjective questions instead of scientific ones. I'd recommend you to go for Islamic History for the following reasons:

1. It has shorter syllabus as compared to Psychology.
2. It is as much scoring as Psychology is.
3. It helps you in Islamic Studies as well.

Good'luck!

You may keep both as both are scoring
the only difference is syllabus where IHC has a huge syllabus while psychology is comparatively small. yet can be opted side by side.
psychology has concepts while IHC will fetch you good marks by quoting eminent historians and analyzing in a scholarly way. Good Luck

I also want to replace I History with Psychology because of its vast syllabus and boring nature. I don't know even abc of Psychology.
But I've a keen interest in its nature and want to do master in it when next admission session opens.
What is your opinion, should I opt it?
If yes, which book do you consult for basic introduction and how much time will consume to cover its whole syllabus?

My friend if you are considering to opt Psychology by seeing the marks rich DMS of finally qualified aspirants of CE 2012 then i would suggest you to revisit your decision, gone are the days when Psychology used to bring such high marks, what happened with CE 2013 aspirants is an omen of its future prospects which seem to be so drastic, so consider all these things before opting it.....
