Here are my two cents. Might help you !!

Goals: Whenever I have a objective (to study something), a desire or dream (to get something or to become someone) then I 'write' them down in a board/chart and paste it in the bedroom. And I insist myself looking at it often. It kind of gives a gentle reminder who I'm and what I want to be/would like to do in my life. Objectives and aims are one of the best sources of motivation, as they will keep you focused and enable you to “do whatever it takes” to accomplish your goals.

Visualization: Studies have found that visualisation makes a difference to professional athletes’ performance, so why don’t we as students and professionals practice doing the same? You can visualize anything ranging from getting a gold medal in academics in your university or doing a bunjee jumping in south america or acting in a christopher nolan movie. But do visualize. Thats one of the important step that can give you a desire, positive drive, feeling of want which eventually helps you in the transformation.

Distractions: When I was trying to improve my reading skills, I stopped carrying my laptop home and using my smart phone. I considered them as distractions and started dwelving more into books at the night time. It was hard in the beginnning but later things changed. I read couple of books, then more books. I saw a change in me, my productivity got better. You can atleast turn off your electronic gadgets and be disciplined.

Habit: We all have one common friend and many of them fail to have a chat with this person. Some do even ignore him. Wondering whom am I talking about? Come on. Its you! I often speak with myself sometimes in front of the mirror, sometimes inside my head, sometimes I force myself to kill my random thought and concentrate back on whats going on by gently padding my head. Start speaking with the amazing YOU.

Gratification: Learn the art of appreciating yourself, do give a reward for your hard work. Hard work can be "cracking a problem or finishing an tricky assignment". Once the mission is accomplished irrespective of the result, but for the effort you put you got to reward yourself. It doesn't have to be huge expensive thing. Even an ice cream or book or a movie ticket, would help to keep the energy levels up. I gulped one like below for getting a positive result in my experiment yesterday :)

Quotes: Do stick the 'thoughtful, inspirational and motivating quotes' at your work bench or at your home or even in your first page of your class note.

Movies: Watch 'movies' that gives you a positive feeling. I repeatedly watch certain movie clips that gives you this inspiring goosebumps. I teleport myself to the character's position and think of what would I say during such circumstance. For example, Beautiful mind, this scene was incredibly motivational :)

Overcome the fear of failure. Don't let the fear catch your thoughts of success, even for a second.

Remain confident and have faith in ALLAH.

Remember the reason for which you decided to attempt CSS. Remembering my initial reason for CSS always helped me get back on track.

However, there are times when you don't feel particularly demotivated but you have had enough of history or current affairs or .... you name it :D

To deal with such situations, you need to find an interest which will be productive, helpful and allow you to have a break at the same time. It could be watching some documentary on a culture or religion or about some social issue. It could be a documentary related to any of your optional subjects (you just need to search the internet properly and you can find virtually anything). Or it could be a book on something that interests you (science and philosophy books helped me at such times).

If nothing works, try exercise (believe it or not, it works wonders).

For some people interested in fiction, some classic or even modern novel might do the trick.

And remember, if you have time on your hands (more than 3 months), and you don't feel like studying for a while, try not to force yourself to study. At that time, do what your mind desires you to do :D
Once you satisfy that distracting desire, you wil be able to concentrate better on your studies and make up for lost time quickly.

Did you write the introductory points in one para or in three paras? Or did you introduce the essay as a miniatured version of what you were about to write in the whole essay?
