Unhappy Notes making has become overwhelming !!! Kindly Advise

Assalam-o-Alikum,
Guys I have started my preparation with Pakistan Affairs. A senior of mine told me that every thing you write should be backed up by relevant quotations and facts. Now if go this route then the notes making has become quite humongous task and nowhere could i revise them in the span of 2 hours as we have during papers. Whereas all the notes that I have seen in this thread are simple one-liners or single word bullet points with only 1 or 2 quotes per question. Now as I have read somewhere here that you should mark things on book like quotes etc. Now I usually read from research papers and prepare from them. All this is done online where it is not possible to download and keep track of every research paper i read (however i do note down the reference). I need sincere answers in this regards from seniors who had already done this in past. Kindly help. A lot of my hard work and time could be wasted.

Regards,

There is no end to the amount of information you can gather on a single topic. A sensible approach is to gather only as much material as you need for a 20 mark answer. That should make your life easier.

That is the issue I am facing. Gathering bare minimum is the problem here. How much is bare minimum, we are used to writing as much as we know in engineering (my background) therefore the concept of a 20 marks is besides me. The reason is in the past the examiner asks a single portion like from a topic for 20 marks and then he asks the whole topic for 20 marks. This is a lot confusing. If i am not being a nuisance then kindly elaborate with example. Right now I am studying Shah Waliullah and you can find heaps of information regarding him on his socio-political work.

Regards

Well sometimes they ask you a question which requires a little bit of everything. For example, what impact did Syed Ahmad's work have on muslims?

and sometimes they ask you a specific aspect, for example, what impact did Syed Ahmad's work in EDUCATION have on muslims?

so you should prepare a comprehensive answer on syed ahmad, and answers on the specific aspects of that topic which have been questioned. That should cover you.

prepare each topic from all angles (past papers would be handy in this regard)..I am supposing that you do not have much time therefore Prepare those aspects which are recurrent in past 10-15 yrs papers ....believe me its not that difficult .
one thing more do not get caught up in things like how to make notes and how to cover a specific topic...Deploy the studying methods which u adopted in your 4 yrs engineering thats it...best of luck..

for shah waliullah or any other personality..the aspects you should cover are :
early life (Not heaps of information,Just major events and important things e.g family ,early schooling etc in brief )
Contributions in social, political ,economic spheres etc
Impacts of contributions
Critical analysis: Your analysis of the personality
Job done !
