It was a great experience to be part of the CSS 2009 written examination. 2 papers a day seems to be a lot but it's a blessing in disguise if you are well prepared. Those who are prepared, they always love to get finished with the exam as early as possible, otherwise it gets a bit nervy. The first day brought no surprises as the essay paper and the precis paper both were easy. Regarding the essay, almost everyone would have been in a position to write an essay on 4-5 topics out of those given in the paper. The precis paper also provided easy marks, especially the MCQs portion was the easiest. Then we come to EDS and current Affairs. Both were easy, though EDS paper was a bit off color. MCQs were easy both in EDS and Current Affairs paper.

Third day was full of surprises. Both Islamiat and Pakistan Affairs paper were a bit different. There was no AAYAT question in islamiat paper this time. This shocked many including me. Also the objective portion was a bit tough.

Papers of Indo-Pakistan history were as easy as one can get. MCQs proved to be a free for all. Then we come to political science paper. It was a bit tough this time. The paper II proved to be very deceiving and demanding.

Last but not the least, the papers of Internation relation and Constitutional Law were really easy. As they say All is well that ends well. In this case it was a great beginning and a dream end. It's been a fantastic expereince, my being the first. The ambience was great, people were really enthusiastic about the exam. In the end i welcome all forum members who appeared in the CSS 2009 written to come up with their experiences. As far as CSS forum is concerned it is like Plato's academy producing Philosopher kings. CSS forum has been a real blessing all along. The useful tips shared by the seniors have always been precious.

I think all the fresh candidates should share their experience immediately after exam because it will be too difficult to recall all the important features after long time. CSS written portion is the most important step. Here you can share all of your observation, advice, paper solving techniques & advice for the beginners. What method you adopted for studies and how did you find it. Your suggestions to avoid certain things in preparation, new trends you examined in papers etc.

Raz your approach of solving papers is tremendous. After viewing all of you posts it revealed upon me that you will go through the exam (Insha Allah). I too appeared in the exam but I am not able to share my experience as you did. Those who are attempting papers every one have experience but very less people can explain it with perfect sensation.

i hope that the papers went well for all the candidates and May Allah help us...The exam went very well for me accept for the political science paper B, it was a bit tricky but not for those who had deeper study of the subject...

I used to Study the newspaper in much detail which i think is not really necessary and one should read the important columns and articles. They help you in improving your writing style and knowledge as well.

I didnt had much writing practice thats why i used to forget important points and the last question was the ultimate victim of this

I would advise the future aspirants to do more writing practice of answers in every subject.By choosing any topic and write on it in every perspective espcially for the current affairs.

write,write and just write should be the cry of the day. your knowlege about the subject is very important but if you cant expess it properly than its futile.....

The papers of CE 2009 were undoubtedly tough than that of previous year .

English Essay & COmprehension paper were quite pliabe and easy one.

Every Day Science : was a little bit tough in mcq portion only 36 questions were answered correctly by me. The subjective portion was not too bad and it was not difficult to grab arond 35 -40 marks in that.

Current Affair: paper was little bit easy especially objective portion in which i reproduced 16 correct answers

Islamiyat: was difficult one .in mcq portion i was able to write only 13 mcqs correctly. Subjective portion was also below average.

Pak Affairs: in mcq portion i knew answer of only 8 questions. i would feel lucky if i muster 40 marks in it.

Its greatly interesting to share experience here.

As every one knows Essay and Composition papers were quite easy. My essay topic was Status of Women in Islam which was attempted very well by me as I had prepared this topic. In composition paper 7 out of 19 mcqs were correct, my précis title was ART AND PASSIONS, the rest paper was easy enough as I knew all the idioms, pair of words, correct and incorrect sentences, and the direct indirect sentences.
E.D. science was tough for me as I m student of Arts. In objective part I was correct only in 26. in subjective part I cannot score more than 25. Being student of I.R I attempted current affairs well, 16 of my objectives were correct. In Pakistan affairs I was correct in 15 objectives and the rest of paper was not bad.
Islamiat was tough especially its mcqs. I was correct in only 10 mcqs. The rest of paper was not bad
Indian history was quite easy I attempted well as 19 of objectives were correct in first and 17 in the second. I gave references from historians as well which greatly helps increasing marks.
Political science was tough this year especially first paper for me. The second one was quite easy for as had a thorough study of it.
I could not attempt constitutional law as well as I expected, how ever it was not too bad.
Pashto paper was quite easy and I m sure I can get more than 80 marks here.
Now u people comment on my experience and performance.

it has been quite some time now since we have attempetd the papers but i'll still like to share the bits that i remember...
Day 1:
essay paper was easy but confusing at the same time...as i took precious 40mints of the paper in deciding the topic:/..i made 4 outlines at the back of my paper n finally went with "future of democracy in pak"...i managed to finish the paper at time..pheww!!
eng comp paper was a relief for me...i did all the mcqs correct..n attempted the rest of the paper ok too...my title of precis was"art and morality"
Day 2:
eds paper, as noticed by all those who attempted, was a tuff call...50% of what i attempted was what i recalled from my o levelz(which i gave 7 yrz ago)..
current affairs paper will bring me 15 marks out of the mcqs for sure...rest i attempted in a fair manner...
Day 3:
pak affair's & islamiat's objective parts i messed up a bit... i managed to do justice with the subjective part of p.afrz but islamiat's subjective part was a blow 4 me..i hav no clue what i wrote in atleast 3 qstns...it seemed more like a paper for current affairz ..n so many policies they were asking..pheww!!!
Day 4:
brit history...part 1 fair
part 2 ok
Day 5:
sociology & journalism: went pretty smooth...socoilogy's paper was very easy n journalism's was all general type of questions which i managed to attempt aptly
Day 6:
IR...paper was some what easy..i applied all knowledge from the current afairs prep...didnt attempt theory typ qstnz
Day 7:
Business admin...i can jus recall 1 thing..paper went below my expectations
Day 8: FREEDOM!!!

....i think giving the css papers is an experience of a life time...i dont know if i'll qualify or not...but i feel that the whole process of the preps n attempting the papers has made me a better person...

My expereince of css2009

1) English Essay : i did execellent and wrote food crisis.
2) Precis: Except precis everything i did well
3) EDS: it was tough i did 29 mcq right, and hope will get near 25 in subject part, eds is always a challenge for me why i do not know.
4) CA: attempted nicely.
5) PA: i think a little bit tough pap, I was able to do only 6 mcqs.
6) Islamiate: I did 16 mcqs right, also did well in subjective part. but it was a tough paper needs some creative and analytical skills.
7) Journalism: did well in mcq and subjective
8) Sociology: overall good i did great
9) C.Law: As llb student i did well but unfortunately cannot do good in mcq
10) Punjabi: I love punjabi
11) GEo1: the best pap of mine
12) Geo2: The Worst pap of mine.


Overall i have a conservative view to get 670 to 690 marks. Inshallah.

I think overall css 2009 papers were tough than previous papers what is your opinion.
