Default Command Task.

Command Task is assigned on the second day of Pscychological test. It is to be performed after the group discussion. In command task you are given a piece of paper having a command which is to be carried out before the group of candidates ranging from 4 to 8 people . You are also given a pencil and paper, if you want to summarise or make a points of the given task. The three officers are sitting behind you and having your back, judge your performance and analyse the qualities. After five to eight minutes, the officer gives an option to any of the candidate to come forward and do the task.

Following things are very important in a command task.
  • Understanding ably well the command given to you.
  • Make a precise summary and points if it is a lengthy one.
  • Divide the time, in explaining the given task(two to three minutes), Getting the opinions(three to four minutes) and finally coming to the conclusion(one minute or two)
  • Note down or memorise the points you have to finally deliver with the assisstance(opinions) of the candidates, if you think it is an important one.
  • Don't assign posts, as it intermingles at times and you cant able to recall.
  • Don't underestimate or rebuke the opinions of others, listen patiently and attentively.

My Command Task:-

You are SSP Lahore, There is a procession(mob) people who have come to the streets demanding that the action must be taken against an SHO who have wrongly apprehended Mr X on the pretext that Mr X has to give the money he borrowed from Mr Y. Mr Y provided the wrong information to the police and Actually Mr Y is a serial offender and he wrongly induced the policeman to take an action against Mr X. Mr X was badly thrashed at the police station. He(Mr X) got some injuries, who later on proved innocent. As an SSP what action would you take, and what gurantees you can provide to stop the mob, so that they disperse peacefully.

ME:- Ladies and Gentleman! I am SSP Lahore, there is a mob who have gathered on the streets that the action be taken against a person who have wrongly implemented a noble man. The People of the area are furious and they want actions against the brutality of the police and the man who have provided the wrong information, what would you suggest to ease the situation.

Candidate 1:- The mob could be cooled down, by negotiating with the notable of the areas and negotiations must be given weightage.

Candidate 2:- Action must be taken against the police officer who have misused his powers and who causes the injuries to the person.

Candidate 3:- The person who have provided the wrong information must be raided and his early arrest must be guranteed to the people who are protesting.

Me:- Thank you very much Ladies and Gentleman. I have decided that negotiations and consultations with the notable of the area would be given weightage in this regard. Efforts would be made so that no untoward incident might happen, by apprehending and tracing down the accussed at the earliest. Action would be taken against the police officials involved in torturing of innocent person, after the examination of medical report.

Regards.

Yes it is neccessary to put down your proposals on a paper(for your convenience) and that needs to be different to those proposals which are recommended to you. If it appears to be same than you can hurriedly brain storm, and note down a new one.

Yes you are supposed to write the summary of your conclusion in points, from where you can get assisstance, before chalking out plan. The pychologist have nothing to do with your concluding remarks albeit they have to judge your commanding skills.

Probably by 15 to 20 minutes.

Dear Irfi,

Conclusion is also an important step in command task, so to conclude one needs to collect, gather and memorise all the suggestions put by the candidates. This can be done by attentively listening to them and putting down on a paper if you seems it would not be possible by retentive memory.

The concluding remarks can be,

Ladies and Gentleman! Thank you very much for your valuable suggestions. I have devised a strategy.......... and you can carry your plan along with the suggestions(of candidates) and in the end saying 'thank you' again.
or
Thank you for making the task easier by your valuable opinions............
Or
I am thankful for your efforts, which will be fruitful in tackling the task, As a(...........) my top most priority would be to devise a plan(the points you have forumlated are to be narrated) along with the suggestions of others.

Regards.
