Thumbs down Dilemma Regarding New Pattern

There has been lots of talks going around about the new pattern that struck the 2012 aspirants. It was generally and very rightly believed that the Essay paper has always been the biggest hurdle on one's way towards the succesful pursuit of CSS.
Following are the distinct features which make this very paper invincible for most of the candidates.
i. The very first paper to kick off your pursuit of CSS.
ii. Lack of writing practice makes you suffer when you suddenly confront a situation in which you are asked to write 3 hours at a stretch.
iii. the IMPROVISATION factor plays the most decisive role when you are to jot down the essay at the very instant moment.
To me, the most critical of the factors is the IMPROVISATION factor in which you are required to mold all your knowledge in accordance with the demand of the topic. The students find it really tough to leave an impression that is simultaneously instant and comprehensive. This very reason has made numerous aspirants succumbed to the pressure.
The change in pattern of 2012 CSS papers has been the demand of this IMPROVISATION factor from the students in almost every paper to a greater extent than what it had been previously.
The questions seemed to be quite simple but they merely seemed simple. In reality, they were quite demanding.
The cramming-parrots found it quite difficult to adapt to the technically more demanding sort of questions. The term, pretty much associated with CSS, SMART STUDIES proved to be the cause pf downfall for most of the candidates. The selective study is going to be no more helpful for the successful pursuit of CSS.
Another factor woth-mentioning is the aspirants who were devoid of the technics of COHERENCE among various events really suffered. The ability to correlate various events having even the remotest of connections really happened to be a skill worth possessing if you aspired for CSS 2012.
The CSS preparation is somewhat a 3-step process which is as follows.
1. You go through the general reading of all the topics and underlining the Facts and Figures.
2. You write these Facts and Facts for each related topic respectively which serve as MCQ's along with proving quite handy for a quick revision
3. You attempt questions by merely writing down the headings along with the bullets ( Facts and Figures ). The next step comes when you solve complete questions and get them checked by someone who is an authority.
The reason behind the slump in students' performance occurred because they merely got hold of the already prepared notes, crammed the top 20 or top 30 questions and took the exams. The students with this very frame of mind really suffered. The reason was the questions were asked in such a manner that even the top 20 questions had more correlation with the generally ignored topics.

Ainuddin KIbzai.
