The same routine I had to follow during my CSS preparation. I used to study from 11 PM to 2 AM on daily basis. I had saturday and Sunday off, so I studied almost 8-10 hours on these days.

In 2008, I was also working in MCB as a Trainee Officer when I qualified CSS in my first attempt. But you are right, its really difficult to concentrate on your studies while being in commercial bank due to its hectic routine. I advise you to continue your studies by exploiting whatever time you have on your hand, then apply for non-paid leave for 2-3 months before the exam. They should not have much problem with non-paid leave. Take your manager/boss into confidence that you will be needing 2-3 months leave by December 2012 etc.
thanks a lot lot sir for your kind advice,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,please give your email id so that i can contact you

Wow, you are an inspiration indeed. Many Congratulations on your success, you clearly deserve applause for you continuous hard work. Hats off and all the best for the future .

Since you are active on the forum we must try to get the best of you. Kindly tell us all the strategies you learnt from the experience. As you have mentioned in one of your para you were the victim of 'scoring trend' in your first attempt. What do you mean by that? Are there any subjects that would be considered safer than other?

Also kindly share the names of the books you have consulted during your preparation especially for the compulsory subjects. A brief strategies of all the subjects with books name would be icing on the cake.

I hope i'm not bugging you much.

Congratulations once again!

As I had barely 2 months to prepare for exams along with my job and studies so I preferred smart work to hard work this time. I identified most important / repeated topics for all subjects and tried to prepare all those in this short period of time. I tried to make presentation in the paper very attractive by use of blue / black color headings / writing combination. Unfortunately, I didn't have the privilege to miss my IBA classes during my exam as my attendance was already short so I had to rush to IBA to attend classes at 6 PM after taking my CSS papers.
For compulsory papers like CA, PA I gave heading 'critical analysis' at the end for every question. I think this technique worked well because despite of getting only 9 and 13 MCQs correct in PA and CA, I scored 53 and 69 respectively in both papers.

Scoring trend is a phenomenon which haunts CSS candidates every year and creates a lot of uncertainities regarding expected result. Sometimes, a subject even with a very good attempt doesn't come out to be scoring due to this fact. In 2008, same was the case with my optional subjects in which British History and Sociology were hit badly by scoring trend resulting in low written score and thus I was unable to get allocation. In 2010, candidates opting Indopak History, Islamic History and Journalism etc were badly affected due to overall low scores in these subjects.

Default Css reforms

I THINK IN ORDER TO INCRESE CREDIBILITY AND IMPROVE EVALUATION CRITERIA OF CSS 1)ENGLISH ESSAY BE INTRODUCED AS SCREENING TEST.ONLY THOSE WHO PASS IT SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO SIT IN REMAINING PAPERS 2) OPTIONALS SHOULD BE ABOLISLISHED AS ONLY COMPULSORIES CHECK ORIGINALITY OF CANDIDATES 3) MARKS OF INTERVIEW SHOULD BE 50 OR 100 AS IN MY VIEW A PANEL WITHOUT A SOUND JUDGEMENT LIKE OBSERVED IN RECENT CASES CAN RUIN CAREER OF CANDIDATES

Salam Sir!

Many Many congratulations for your success.

Sir you have got good splendid marks in Current Affairs n Pakistan Affairs. will you please tell me the srtategy of attempting questions in both papers and also mention the names of books or source of material.

An other question of mine. " What is difference between conclusion and critical Analysis and how can we make critical Analysis in both subjects? "

As you have said that you got good marks in written due to critical Analysis.

Last question but not least that " Had you given headings in the questions you attempted in 2011 in every subject except Essay n Composition?

Please Sir answer in detail.

Thanks in advance
Sir please give me FB ID.

Regards
Asif Nawaz
