Dear Paras, Feldman is a good book, but, every 2nd aspirant who has opted psychology studies from it. So i would suggest you to go for sources that are not so common. I have told JINDSHAHWANI about 2 psychology books. those are awesome
consult them too. Easy and far more knowledgeable than Feldman

Ask Jindshahwani, she has their links

Ok here you go, these are the links of both the books,

http://libgen.info/view.php?id=686663

http://dev2.uniba.sk/~gal/files/Unde...Ed)(gnv64).pdf

consider 2nd one as text book, and 1st one + feldman both as reference books.

And yes, the only strategy you require is to be conceptual. If you have concepts, you will never fail to tackle any type of question. Rather, a tricky paper is good for you because it filters out many crammers and brings only the concept-oriented candidates into the limelight
i wont force you to cover the complete syllabus, but i will urge you to grab the concept of whatever you study.

Note that, the above books does not cover the "schools of thought in psychology" portion. so, if you want to study them, then google them, (wikipedia is good for that)

Dear Saira,
Your optionals are good, but if you have not started sociology yet, then replace it with public ad: to make your combination better, at least according to current trend.

For psychology, read my previous post,

Islamic history,
I started islamic history too, but owing to its lengthiness i replaced it with british history.
so far, the book i loved the most for this subject is 'K. Ali', its old version is good. i think its name is "A study of Islamic History" . you will find it quite easily in the market. But purchase it only after reading a few lines from it for your own satisfaction. If you find anything missing in this book (just in case), then internet.com
One of my teachers got 170+ marks in Islamic History after studying from this book

Journalism, "10 years past papers strategy" works the best
same goes for Socio, but you have to keep in mind that in socio, you have to prepare almost every question by keeping into mind the Pakistani society.

Ok

Don't copy me A to Z, just extract what suits you the best and reject the leftovers. This is because every person has his/her own mindset etc

Good luck

a very good omen for you to end up in amongst the toppers inshaAllah

have you checked out zoology's or botany's past papers?
have you find them closer to your prior knowledge or not?

if yes, then consider anyone of them in place of Journalism+socio,
if not, then stick with your original combination

in either case, your combination is a good one

anything else?

sir after completing your home work did you prepare notes on these topics????
and sir suggest me some ways to hone my writing skills , as after doing MBBS i have lost all my writing skills!
In this exam , we not only have to write but write effectively , courteously and according to the requirements of the question.
keeping in mind time left , suggest some ways or daily tasks to work on this issue.
i already have completed sociology , working on journalism these days but really having difficulty in grabbing its concepts don't know why !
And i am myself more inclined to conceptual learning! i liked sociology for this reason , that by grabbing the concept one is able to answer even the most difficult question.
but in journalism , i am still confused , how to deal with it!
i almost have completed section 1 of journalism.

INSHAALLAH ! only ALLAH can make it possible ! otherwise , prior to reading your threads i was not even 1% hopeful, that i will be able to complete my prep in such a short interval. but after learning, that you did it in 5 months , i was filled alacrity , that if ALLAH is with someone , one is able to do any thing
sir, one more thing that i have analyzed, while reading you threads is clarity. you are clear in your views and this is quite visible in your writing . to best of my knowledge , it is very essential to impress the reader.
How can this clarity be achieved in writing?
I am not good at English and this thing frightens me a lot((

Compulsory Subjects:

1. Everyday Science:
EDS is a very vast yet, an interesting + scoring subject.
owing to its importance among the compulsories, i made its notes that included its complete syllabus. they are in the form of a book (400+ pages, in my handwriting) and featured all the diagrams, 'Fast facts' with almost all important topics (for MCQs), 'Difference between' type questions from 15+ years past papers, Short notes from 15+ past papers, measuring units from 15+ past papers, abbreviations. its a complete package. my sources were internet and foreign encyclopedias. (namely, EVERYDAY SCIENCE FOR CSS by FAISAL KARIM QURESHI)

Many many aspirants photocopied them from lahore and now you may find them in different cities. If you can get them, then they are enough for EDS paper. otherwise you have to study from different books + internet to complete its syllabus. Kashmiri's book is good, + foreign encyclopedias (kingfishers etc) + internet.

The strategy is, you may cram the material related to muslim scientists, but for science section, you have to be conceptual. put your maximum efforts in this subject because this is the only subject in compulsories that is potential enough to score in 80s and 90s. it also covers the loopholes of current affairs and pakistan affairs.
it's the only subject with 50 marks mcqs and 50 marks subjective questions.
Your prior general knowledge helps you a loooooot in EDS.

Other compulsories in upcoming posts, 1 by 1...

Dear, clarity in writing comes from clarity of thoughts and clarity of intentions.
Be simple and original, and this will lead you to clarity. avoid being overconfident and oversmart, because your text reflects your attitude clearly to the examiner.
but to get good marks, you have to be a bit diplomatic and crafty too in CSS papers.

1. Diplomatic = If you have to say that "XYZ is a bad guy" then modify your 'original' view and redress it as "many people say that XYZ is a bad guy" , it will convey your point to the examiner without backfiring you

2. Crafty = fabricate your own quotations cleverly if you need them badly to decorate your answer. and give their authorization to renowned personalities, authors in that respective subject
CSS is a gamble, so play it cleverly

The examiner is bound to believe in your brilliantly done diplomacy and craftiness because you have already put an impression on him that you are a simple and original person by your text, it's human psychology

i did it numerous times in Essay, Islamiat, pak affairs, current affairs

so, the main thing is, be simple and original (in normal times), and that will cover your diplomacy and craftiness (in desperate times)

understood?

Compulsory Subjects:

2. English Essay:
I never wrote any practice essay for CSS. The first essay i have written for CSS is during the Essay paper itself. when I entered the examination hall for english essay paper i knew only one thing related to english essay i.e. "HOW TO WRITE A GOOD ESSAY."
I knew 1 more thing i.e. "human psychology" (your examiner's main feature is, he has to check another 10000+ papers. use this as his weakness, and manipulate him and convince him to pass you)
(here, your half tension related to essay paper is released)
now, you just have to learn, where and how to hit your examiner.

after i was given the paper i read all the topics thoughtfully and decided to choose "economic and social rights given to women by Islam" , this is because unlike others, i had some prior knowledge related to this topic.

then i molded my knowledge according to the structure of essay in my mind, then left first 2 pages blank and started my essay from the third page. I started with a Hadith (first impression), my intro was awesome, body was so and so, and conclusion was fabulous. i ended my essay by criticizing on western culture and quoted Allama Iqbal's poetry in the end (last impression).
afterwards, i made the outline in the first 2 pages that i left earlier. my otline was clean and clear, it also contained many points which even my essay did not have

the constant feature of my essay was, awesome handwriting, no cuttings, no overwritings, no spelling mistakes. its length was just 1400 words.

Now, the point is,
i am in no way discouraging you people to practice essay before exams.
but, i am just trying to ease you by establishing that it is not a big deal if you have proper tools and you know the trick

So, to prepare essay,
1. just read from any "knowledgeable" source and grab more and more information about multiple topics.
2. you must know the structure of a good essay.
3. you must be shrewd enough to hit the examiner on hot-spots (human psychology).
4. leave the rest on Allah.

Done!

Dear Werewolf, you seem to be creating chain posts despite you know that you can edit your post or use multi-quote option. Kindly avoid this practice.

@ qqurat

Do not create posts to appreciate some one like saying thanks, very nice etc. You can click thanks button or add reputation points to that member as an appreciation for his help to you.

Default 3 precious tips

I will write about remaining compulsory papers tomorrow inshaAllah,
but before signing out, i will share with you all 3 very important tips.

1. Choose your pen wisely. it is potential enough to
(a). stimulate your brain to recall forgotten things.
(b). make an "stationary field" in your paper that will keep on impressing and pleasing your examiner.

2. Keep in mind, preparing for CSS is not as tough as going through CSS exams. so, for peculiar papers, do make shorthands. This is must!

3. Some read 10 books for 1 subject while others read 1 book for 1 subject, but in the end everyone gets 3 hours to show what he/she did. but, If those 3 hours are utilized wisely, then examiner might confuse a 1-book-reader with a 10-book-reader and vice versa. so, be RESULT-ORIENTED and focus on productive side.

Good night. tata
