What % marks to get prepare for....?
What % writing result should we expect, to be in top positions, in CSS exams? I know that getting top positions depend upon the relative competition that vary every year, but an average idea would be a benchmark to set a smart but realistic goal. I mean on average what's been the percentage result of Past CTPs (60% or 70%)?
Actually, on top of this information, my Subject selection strategy is based. I'm planning to opt those subject which leaves a low margin of Marks Cut and panic surprises at your first glimpse on question paper, because I conceive that being a competitive exam, CSS isn't about which subject you can pass out, it's about what you can excel in. Am I right? Like in Statistic Paper, we'd be already knowing what type of questions, we're going to face, and how to attempt them etc (obviously I'm choosing because I know I'm good in calculations/ I can do it, no worries if it takes time). Will this theme of selection, work for other Category of Subjects also? Please guide. |

Check out dmc of toppers from previous years .almost none have selected statistics as a subject to be amonst topper. Its not the subject that fetches you good marks rather your command on the subject..

Mercantile LAW100 ISL His and Cul200 A/C and Auditing200 Statistics100 .......and it's only Statistics which I'm uncertain about, I know it's risky. About my command (comprehensions) on Statistic, it's good, but to cover all topics definitely require Time, that's a problem. Please suggest any other subject whose's syllabus would be easy to cover as a whole within few days as I want to give more time to A/C and ISL HIS & CUL. |

you can top with subjects you have interest, background, and full grip. I always suggest my friends are to choose that subjects they have interest in them. your subjects combination is good but history is always a low scoring subject. but if you have grip on vocabulary and knowledge you choose it. in previous trend Dr Noor top in 2011 with one optional urdu but definitely urdu is always low scoring subject but she top. go through syllabus past paper a d finally decided. here is no confusion if.you have grip on statistics you choose it. regards

My aptitude? Technical Subjects: Math, Stat, Physics and A/C.........! Leaving Math and Physics, A/C and Stat is available. But their course is so lengthy, I think only those should select them who've studied them before. My interest is Arabic and Isl His and Cul.........but opting it for CSS would require me to follow it from scratch, again confused if I would be able to get prepare it for 200 Marks Exam. Specifically for Arabic, is it all about Language or what????? And ISL HIS & Cul requires intensive study, as History isn't technical, it's about knowledge and it's analytic presentation. I know whatever I select, I need devotion and hard-work, but atleast I must be knowing what the pre-requisite are for each subject and what a boundary line each subject has. Going through the syllabus and past papers without an understanding of Study Material and content, never will bring us a good choice to OPT but mere a frustration. If I see past paper of Sociology for Instance, how would I get to know that paper contains questions that are well-known in the Books or how'd I get to know if they're unseen and require conceptual grip? |

Replace statistics with any other subject. Rest are good and scoring subjects. Statistics is scoring as well but a bit complicated thats why not to opt it. Rest depend on your work and luck.

dear just you have to opt the subject that you know you have command on it and with that you have to look at the scoring trend

In 2013, I got 85 marks despite I believe it was a biased marking on the part of examiners. Moreover I got 3 MCQ's incorrect. I expected at least 94 or 95 in stats.

Your combo is good but it is risky as well but if you put in reasonable effort I am certain you will see a very high percentage
