Salam everyone.
First of all I m thankful to my comrade Imperturbable for extending a generous helping hand. Though the both queries have been answered to the utmost satisfaction by Imperturbable but I wud love to be a drop in the eternal sea. @ sabah "1.What exactly an examiner demands from an essay carrying 100 marks? " There should be logical well integrated development, i.e., organic whole. Commentry supported by appropriate examples which MUST not be out of place and all that imperturbable has already explained. Moreover, quality supported by quantity is an ideal combination to score good -I personally believe-. As for as the question how to achieve unity, Coherence and cohesion in a piece of writing, it does require a great deal of time which I am short of at present BUT I am working on my book Composition Skills for O' Level and CSS these days and I wud be sharing it with the young eager minds here on the forum chapter by chapter soon and hope it wud satisfy ur queries if any on the subject. @ Malik Jehangir First of all I wud say that wen we fail, we must open-heartedly admit that we were lacking somwhere; it wud make it easier for us to find out our weakness and eradicate the same.When a team loses, there were certainly some loop-holes ignored or unidentified and unsecured... but then, when a ship sinks, it is not always the crew to be blamed. It is then as Parveen Shakir says: Phoolon ka bekherna tu muqadder he tha laikin Kuchh es main hawaon ke syasat bhe bohat thee. Hawaon ke syasat here stands for - keeping in view ur qquestion- the destructive aspect of nature/fate/buri taqdeer. Well, I personally feel that life is more or less a Shakesperean tragedy where the character ( protagonist) and fate both contribute to a tragic downfall. But it does nt mean we should bid farewel to arms: Men heap together the mistakes of their lives, and create a monster they call Destiny. John Oliver Hobbes quotes. Regards. |

@S.H.Virk
Brother surely your observation deserve to be appreciate.Rarely do people bother about the other forum members in such a high spirit.
My experience is that it is more the luck then anything else. when i completed my master in 2002, i was highly motivate and of course termed capable by many to pass css.being the graduate of Quaid-e-Azam university, i felt that css is no big deal for me.I studied very much even for 12 to 13 hours a day.I got good guidance as the community of my elder brother was predominantly of csps. I did individual English tutions.I would write an essay and my examiner would check it for me.This exercise continued for 9 months.I had no tension at that time since every thing concerning me was going well. As far as prayers of elders are concerned, they are all happy with me and of course wished good for me. Despite all these favourible conditions, i failed to qualify in 2003, 2005 and lastly in 2006.Overall my score was good but i would fail either in English composition or English Essay. I personally feel that there was nothing humanly thing missing.I attribute the failure to the bad Luck.Even though my juniors whom i often taught many things qualified CSS.So Its to me more the luck factor then some human/worldly reasons. One of my friends used many of my notes and he passed with good marks. But remember that one must except failure once you experience it.CSS is not the end of life.There are lots of other opportunities in life and one must move ahead without being depressed by his earlier failures. Regards. |

css ans aspirants
very thought provoking disscusion
css is purely a matter of one s luck,when i was preparing 4 it ,a very common queastion disturbed my mind ,thousand of people appear every year ,what about of those who could not qualify........? well we often have heard these words STRUGGLE THATS COUNTs the most not the result,..... well one think is very important Allah Almighty has selected every one 4 special purposes,we r here 4 some roles to be played ,if we r not successful in one field in which we have putt efforts then its mean we r getting a training 4 something which Allah has selected 4 us in different environmrnt ,asal baat koshes ha , a css aspirant ,when is in preparing process ,he reads a lot of material,develops analytical skills,interacts with different people, knows kisi ka experience,kisi ki good luck,kisi ki bad luck, enjoy flavours of different writers, his ambitious struggle,he also gets time to spend alone where international ,national senarios,literary influences,heroic tales ,sceintific skills so many things r actually preparing a person a little bit on mature level if one is sincere in ones struggle then exames process starts,psychological war,nerves pressure further makes a person to be familiar with a different physical reality,now Allah is here HE knows better KISKO KIA MILNA HA,KIS KO KIA NAWAZNA HA,so if one is not successful after hard work one is getting training 4 someother task,no need to be disappointed Allah koshis kernay walo ko pasand karta ha mayosi gunah ha,try try again ,but with confidence,proper orgnization,n hardwork,keep smiling these r my personal evaluation ,after appering the exame ,people have the right to differ from it. |

@S.H.Virk
My respectable brother!
Thanks for consolation. It is beyond any doubt that civil services are superior services.It would be an injust to the service if i underrate them because i would loose credibility as i failed to do css.this would draw me in the axiom that Grapes are Sour. As my another worthy forum member has narrated, thousands of people fail every year in css and only few hundred get passed.some of them are also dropped in interview.I am told that in 2007, 194 got passed in written and only 190 could qualify in the final result.this is amazing.and this is specially consoling for me. Indeed you are right.I got PhD scholarship abroad and after overcoming some visa problems, i will be leaving soon for spain.this again is a great kindness from Almighty Allah. But remember at the end of all this adventure i regret one thing.Either i should have done any other job along preparation for CSS or i should have improved my academic qualifications by doing Mphil.The past 6 to 7 years, after my Msc went to dogs. Dear i wish you all very bright careers in the civil services.you really have got covetous positions. |
