Always prepare own notes. It is extemely important that you make notes for all the subjects except Essay and English. It has two reasons , Firstly your material / notes will have discrimination beside other`s material. It will gain the interest of checker. Secondly all the syllabus will be well reflected because u ll have studied it before. It will make easier your reading. Always prepare concised notes, It has clear reason that u will have 3 hours to answer 10 questions. Moreover concise notes reveal all the aspects in few words . for example : if u write many paragraphs checker will sign single mark to a paragraph. Where as , if u describe point wise , checker will sign for each point separately.

Q 8. How to accumulate material for notes ?

you will need to research your topic thoroughly to find information . Use each of these three methods.

1. Personal experience : use the knowledge u already have on the topic
2. Reading : use information found in books , magazines and pamphlets from the library and the internet
3. Interview & inquiry : ask question of people who know about the topic.

Totally agree with the views of Mr Lasi...

i would like to make some additions in the books section...
for EDS "Advanced EDS by M. Imtiaz Shahid" by Caravan Books
Now one book of extensive MCQs is also required since the format of EDS paper has changed from CSS-2007...

for Pakistan Affairs i would recommend- Pakistan Affairs by M. Sohail Bhatti.

@ ali

As it is mentioned above, IR and Indo-pak history (paper 2) are homogenous of CA and PA respectively. Indo-pak history has bit lengthy syllabus whereas IR is considered as easy one. Sociology and Journalism are also considerable marks taking subjects. But it all depends upon your grip on subject. If you`ve studied them before you`d not ask such Questions.

I recommend you to explore Syllabus and Past papers of your subjects. This is how, You can come on decisive answer.

Chao,

@mahgul
Just look at the time span , i mean when r u planning to take exams , if 2008 , than look into the matter and make some amendments if the subjects are not upto ur mental capacity or taking much time , If 2009 , than there is a lot of time and strides are not necessary. you must have gone through the syllabus , go through it again with the past papers so that u may work out ur problems .
as far as scoring is concerned , it depends on the person not subjects . If u have a command on the subject and have something different than u will definitely score !! Think a thousand times before u take ur final decision ,once the decision is taken stick to it .
take care
