@Zaka

As Kamran said you can help yorself not only by reading but you can write essays on your own which will improve your writing skills and your speaking skills won't improve unless or until you speak , so try speaking English with ur friends.

When one has learned few rules of grammar, it is actually fear of commiting mistakes in writing, n speaking that one is afraid of using what one has learned. most of us learn basic tenses during sixth n seventh standard in government schools. but time passes by, one graduates n still finds dificulty in spoken, n written expression. main reason for such flaw is LETHARGY. most of the time we have complain that we can not speak english but very few us actually do something about it. First thing you have to do also is to do somthing about it. this is the moment. write down on anything that crosses your mind. it may be a passing thought, n it may not have any sequence in it, yet just write it down. an after writing it down, try to match your expression with the rules which you have learned hitherto but never applied.

2. read good sentences in newspapers in story n novels in international newspapers n see the situtation in which these are spoken, pen it down in ur register n try to internalise the essence of it next time try to apply it to some peculiar condition in ur environment. by n by this practice should make you familiar with what is good english by imprinting it upon your neurons n it should lead you to distinguish from poor sentences.

3. Do sololoquy: talk to yourself in english, describe your experiences , what you want to do, engagae in a monologue with urself. it should make ur realise ur mistakes thereby providing your ways to improve it. BUt remember a word of caution ,'' DO NOT ENGAGE IN SOLO TALKS IN YOUR STREET OR ON A ROAD" you know why !

4. listen to native speaker n be familiar with their intonation. it will improve ur phonetics.

5. make english speaking friends. n overcome irresistble urge to not speak or to speak in ur native language. it is important to give vent to your expression in order to develop it. n development must start from preliminaries...or basics.

6. read a same piece of newspaper again n again. to internalize structures n give u some familiarity with the language.

i hope you benefit from these suggestions.

regards.

dr. ghulam asghar

well brother you can improve your english only by writing paragraphs and reading short and interesting stories such as series of James Headley Chase,it will develop your interest in the language and you will gradually improve your expression,secondly, these stories will sharpen your intincts as well. most important thing is to write simple paragraphs on the topics such as 'My daily routine' My favourite teacher or anything like this, but the ideas should be yours,and the language should be non-bookish. your personal views are needed. you may get them checked from me and write atleast 2 paragraphs of 100 words daily. thanx

How to improve English speaking:
For improving your speaking power i suggest you to watch English Movies in which dialogues in english are displayed on the screen. U listen the dialogue and read it from the screen at the same time and do use head phone for the purpose.And watch the same movie twice or thrice, U will feel the difference in just few days.

Default Improve Writing Skills

Dear Zaka, I will suggest you to write on line on different topics. Use blogs, Articles websites, and passionately participate in forums. Just write down whatever you have in your mind. Inititially u will write in simple way but with the passage of time you will realize that yur writing ave no effect. So so will have to make it stylish, attractive, and thrilling. Use hot words that would melt the mind of reader, cack validity of your posts day by day. Make use of modern languages, quotes, funny touch and ultimately you willl be habitual of writing.
Thanks and if you still feel any hesitation do not hesitate to contact me. Irfan Arshad
