there is no exact period for ctp to start.this time it is starting from 15th jan.STP starts soon after ctp is completed.
Total time for ctp and stp is about one year and 9 months.

Default Answer t your questions about CTP and STP

First of all you take CSS examination. If you qualify then you will be allocated into a service group depending on your merit, choice and your provincial quota. After your selection is completed, you will be sent for CTP or Common Training Program at the Civil Services Academy Lahore. CTP usually lasts for 10 months. During your CTP you will be provided free accomodation and free food. Your pay will be around 9000 to 10,000. Yes it is NINE THOUSAND to TEN THOUSAND....

Remember that after the completion of your CTP, your STP or Specialized Training Program will start. STP is held in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad depending on your service group. Officers of DMG, Accounts, Income Tax, Military Lands and Cantonment, and railways will do thier STP in Lahore in thier respective academies. Officers of Police, Foreign Service, information Service, Postal, Commerce and Trade, and OMG will pursue thier STPs in Islamabad in thier respective academies. And officers of Customs will go to Karachi.

Remeber that the length of STP varies from group to group. Usually it is from 7 months to 1.5 years. Police has the longest STP while Postal, Information, railways, Foreign Service and Accounts has the shortest. During the STP you will be provided with free accomodation but NO FREE FOOD. Only DMG officers get free food in thier academy during the STP... All the others will have to pay the mkess charges which is around 4,000 to 5,000. remember that during this period you will get the same pay of Nine to Ten thousand.

Another important thing is that thier are no gaps in trainings. You will start your STP right from the next day on which your CTP ends. And after STP you will join your office on the very next day...

Don't remain in any fools paradise about getting rich easily.... pays of CSS officers are less than college lecturars.... you will get normal Grade 17 salary which is around 17 to 18 thousand on joining the office. Your pay will increase by 700 to 800 per year.

NOW THE CHOICE IS YOURS..... CSS is a good career if you want honour and exposure. but if you want money then try your hand at business or be poised to do corruption while on job. Another important thing which I would like to clear on you people is the EVEN DOING CORRUPTION IS NOT EASY. DONT THINK THAT ANYONE CAN BECOME RICH BY CORRUPTION>>> NO THIS IMPRESSION IS TOTALLY WRONG. EVEN OPPORTUNITIES FOR CORRUPTION ARE VERY VERY VERY VERY RARE AND EVEN IF THEY ARE AVAILABLE THEN THEY ARE FULL OF DANGERS.

Good luck

dear muktart,i am very obliged to you for providing such a moral and pratical information to all the new csp;s.well corruption is not a mean to wealth. it is our believe that ,what we will get in our lives is predestined and no one can snatch it from us ,therefore ;indulging one's self in corruption nd ill-gotten wealth will not satisfy one's inner self.thus the net result is to be loyal to one;s nation nd sincere to one;s job.thanks[

The Current CTP takes about nine and a half months. then there is a usually a break of one week to two weeks depending upon the start of the respective programs. and then the resepctive STPs take their own times. right now, customs and Income Tax will have a six months STP. it used to be longer because of the MBA program but now the MBA has been made optional.
I dont know about the rest of the STP programs.

ayezzaS,

mba was mandatory for customs and excise group and income tax group officers. from 36th ctp onwards, the requirement has been waived off. now they are appointed into their respective departments directly after stp.

the income tax group (now inland revenue service) officers of 36th ctp have been appointed into their department recently. they are among the first ones in the batch to get into active service.

regards
