nasir,

i am not sure, but i think they're attached with the military for around a month. they're designated as captains, kept on less food; in short, given the taste of military life.

we should still wait for some authoritative answer.

regards,

Military attachement lasts for 3 to 4 weeks. Officers are sent in groups to different cores and brigades of the army in different cantts all around the country. A few officers from senior batches were even attached with units working in the most hot and actively engaged units in areas of FATA and Balochistan. There you dress up in an Army unifrom badged as captain. The officers are attached with different units of army for around two weeks. They make you interact with army officers and staff. You follow some routines of army drills daily and also visit different functional divisions within the units.
According to the seniors, it is a fun filled experience, however, some even considered it as something to get over with. (People's experiences obviously depend upon their personal preferences and also on the CO's of the units they were attached with ).

its of three weeks and nothing much is needed. all u need to do is to be in time every where...rest u will be attached with a unit... in the end when u come back u have to bring completion certificate from army..its pre requisite for ur final certificate

in military attachment, there are two factors that could lead to a good or bad experience. one is how you conduct yourself. the second is what kind of people you get when you are there.
When we went for ours last year, it was a good one in the northern areas. the unit commanders, colonels, gave us a lot of respect. same thing with the generals and brigadiers whenever we met them. the problem with the lower cadre military personnel is that they can not talk to their officers in the same way in which we can talk to them. the reason is simple. we are not there to be trained. we are there to get a know how of how the military works.
the group that i went to with had a very a good time. one or two of their captains thought we had to be treated like the rest of the people. they asked one of batchmates and me to wake up early morning at six. we neglected him and woke up at twelve. he never said anything again
remember you are a civil officer, not a military one. you are not fit for the military. because had you been fit for it, you would have joined it instead of civil service. many of the military personnel are envious of the position that you are in. so either they give you too much respect or they try to overcome that envy by simply being bullies. I must say that most of them are repsectful instead of bullies. there was one incident where one of the majors called a batchmate of ours "bloody civilian". at the farewell the general asked them if they had anything to say. this batchmate of ours told him the story. the general immediately issued orders, and that major, by the grace of God, will never be promoted.
so the lesson is that be the officers you are. by being officers, that does not mean that you have to be disrespectful to them. be nice to them but dont be afraid of them. if someone tries to push you, tell them that you are civil officers and are not meant for all this. but go to their practices etc. enjoy the tanks, vehicles and weapons. and try to go anywhere with them. because this will probably the last time you will have such an adventure.
