Serving officers please shed light about the CTP, STP and perks of this service. How do you compare it with PSP,PCS and PAS?

Peace itself is a major and rare perk these days.....which one can abundantly enjoy in FSP. As far as material Perks are concerned, one of the Directors of FSP was stating that one really gets more than enough to have refined life style without indulging into any sort of misconduct or begging for any favor. So for those who want to avoid transfers in remote/far flung areas and want to explore world FSP is 100% safe option.
Customs yes a good option.
Police yes it,s good with attractive perks but depends on caliber of person, challenging as well.
PAS, after local bodies election has lost its authoritative fragment to Nazim, on some major functional grounds, and neli bati and other Perks are still there.
Last but not least it,s an opinion and anybody can disagree.

You seem to be knowledgeable about FSP. So I hope that you'll tell me what others reluctant to tell.

1- I want to know a rough estimate of salary of a diplomat posted abroad.

I heard from unauthentic sources that the salary , let's say in London, would be around 1500 USD, which is like peanuts.
It will be great if

2- you also share with us the quality of residence abroad.

I am being told that a furnished apartment is provided but what I don't know is the details.

Please also share details about the traveling expenditures for personal reasons.

3-How often can we travel to Pakistan?

4-Do we have to bear the cost for personal visits?

5-Can we use diplomatic passport for personal traveling or its use is limited to official visits?

6-I was being told that educational expenditures of two children would be covered by the government. (for any university college school, one wishes to send ones children) is it true?

I know that parents are not considered as family.
7-Can they live with me, during my posting abroad, on their own expense of traveling?

8-Is the provided residence adequate to accommodate parents?

9-One thing more, when should one expect a reasonable house in islamabad? I mean at what stage of the career?

10-Does one get a car in islamabad?

It will be great if you answer these queries one by one.

Forget rough estimates, I'll give you accurate numbers:

For UK, the total salary for a 3rd Secretory is $2572. This is other than the main salary that he/she gets i.e. PKR 35-40k. This changes over time according to the cost of living in a particular country. But rest assured, you can live a decent life with the salary that they give. Not luxurious, decent. Check Numbeo for analysis. Guess what? $2415 is the average monthly disposable salary (after tax) in UK.

The highest salary of 3rd Secretory is $3138, i.e. for Norway. The lowest is $1922, i.e. for Brunei. The average of all countries is $2430.

These figures are from 2011 so you never know, they will probably be higher than this today.

Quality of residence is decent enough. Furnished apartment is indeed provided. You can chose your own residence. Depending upon your grade, the rent amount is paid directly to the landlord so you don't get to see it. I'm not exactly sure about the actual amount so I'm not giving you any numbers. But it also varies from country to country.

Personal traveling is your personal responsibility.

You can travel on your official passport because that is the only passport that you will have, but you can't leave the country without an NOC from the Foreign Office, and getting an NOC is not easy. They own you.

Its a bit complicated, but overall, yes. It not for Graduate/Postgraduate studies or kindergarten, nursery etc. Only for schooling. There are some other details a well.

Sure.

They don't take that into account. Also, depends on you grade. The higher your grade, the better you residence will be.

Grade 19-20+. Also depends upon your PR skills. The competition is fierce.

Maybe Grade 20+. Not guaranteed even then.

9.As a matter of fact FSPs do not require a permanent alloted house in islamabad. As after one and a half or three years(max) they get posted abroad. Cometetion is tough in Islamabad. You may get an apartment in 17 if available, for singles a room, and in higher grades availability becomes a bit easier one.
10. In 19 yes. and you need not to depend on govts car as right after 1st Foreign Posting. you can buy a car of your choice in pakistan.
