Lifestyle in foreign service...

AoA seniors, I wanted a little clarification. So I am aspiring to become a foreign service officer, but one questions disturbs me. Do diplomats have to adopt to a modern and fancy lifestyle which may lead to slight immodesty and deviating from Islamic values? I may sound conservative but the question do concern me. Logical and conclusive answers would be appreciate

You choose your own life style, no one forces you to do anything. On the other hand, children living in foreign countries and studying in foreign schools can pick up a thing or two from their peers which you may not like. It all comes down to your parenting though.

I would strongly disagree with your point about children. It does not come down to your parenting, you are under estimating their education system. Land of immigrants won't be a super power if that were the case.

No, USA is an example. And I think you got my point.

Well then I think Xing Lee is right because no matter how good an education system is in any foreign country, it still comes down to one's parenting when a parent wants to keeps his/her child away from something which he/she doesn't consider right, but the society there do. That's common with practicing Muslim families settled in a non muslims' majority country.
