Foreign services for girls
 

hello, i need some information regarding foreign services group. Do girls get along well in this group? I have heard stuff like like: it isn't suitable for girls,their family life gets disturbed, the divorce rates are high etc.Is it so? If so then why?
I wish to keep it as my first preference.So i am a little confused. If there is anyone who can help me on this, i dont have much time left.

well obviously , its common sense !!..... this is a groups in which u have to travel from one country to the other for quite a long time . Ur children's education gets disturbed , ur husband may have to change jobs between countries !! i would say this group is definately not suitable for married girls..... if u r single and plan to live ur live being like that for a long time then u r welcome !:)

@ Rabel, well dear it is a fact that a foreign service officer usually does not stay in country for long periods of time and is posted in various countries, so it often it may become difficuilt for the family life if ones husband is employed in country and cannot leave his job to travel/join his wife and that may result in divorces. But it depends upon nature of ones relationship with spouse and nature of his job whether he can join you abroad or otherwise.

what i hear of it is this: regardless of the gender, it will surely disturb your family life. however, i think it might be a little more for women since they are the homemakers. ofcourse, a person from FSP who has served for a few years would be more competent to comment on all this. but i gave you the comments of a retired 22-grade DMG officer.

thank you aliz, tabassum and mahmood , i really appreciate your views. In the end i think nothing really is hard if you try hard enough and get things going according to your plan. If you are able enough you can get both ur family and professional life work harmoniously and the places won't matter much- but If u r not then its better not to stress yourself and think of doing something else . well thanks again.

I don't think so... i am from foreign service and we have 5 girls with us who are all getting their training here...what matters is only mental toughness, afterall u have to live away from ur home for all ur life and plus if u get good life partner , there would be no problems

i really doubt that girls who opt for foreign service are really moved by considerations of family. it is their passion which drives them towards foreign service. once i asked this question from a lady in our batch who's in foreign service by choice. family did not figure in her reply.

i have also heard that divorce rate in cases of fsp ladies is high. i do not know whether this is true or not.

the girls in FSP shud prefer marriages in their own department.this might save them from a lot of hassle.2 years ago, one fabulous married couple visited our university ( Quaid-i-Azam University islamabad).Masha'ALLAH it was really a good couple.i hv just forgotten their names.both of them were CSPs and served in FSP.and they said that they were leading an excellent life.

@ adil, i dont believe that entering foreign services means that you become indifferent to your family. Family always counts no matter what.
@scorps.definitely, you have to be mentaly tough to stay away from your home for long periods of time. otherwise homesickness would turn you into some lazy gloomy person searching ways to get back home.
