Default Study at your expense while posted abroad in FSP

Kindly if any senior of Fsp can answer this querry of mine.
I want to ask if during my posting abroad , I can take some post graduate course in medical field , at my own expense ?
I am confused on this , I want to have a post graduate degree in my parent field .

Do it before joining the services if so. Otherwise the equation just fails; doing the courses irrelevant to the field won't earn any charm and repute to the career.

I have been allocated this year to FSP .
I just want to ask if its possible , irrelevance to career doesn't matter much for me .

Well I don't have any on the ground info. to be honest, but just think yourself, most degree programs require at least 2 full days a week work even when studied part time. Regular degree programs of course require more days of work. Will you be able to cop with it even if it is allowed? Studying something which is not relevant to your field of work and then working at one of the key position which surely would require a lot of hard work as well.

If you really want to study you may seek to defer CTP . Otherwise your interests and passion to study medical might get diluted in next 3,4 years (CTP,STP,FPOE,Language program, approx. one year isb desk job and then foreign posting) .

Any one having first hand knowledge about this querry ?
I think it may be plausible , to study at your own expense . I have read that Adnan randhawa did his LLM from china , during language program .

When does fpoe take place ? How many months after STP ?

After how much time officers go on language program after FPOE ?

Why don't you go for some tests like MRCP etc..They will not require much time to bound...I think Royal University also require you to do job in medical field, may be they would have some relaxation in this regard...In our Field MRCVS(Member of Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons) can be done without any such restriction...Even in parts...Try such tests despite for going for some regular Post Grad..You can see practice of your interest by visiting abroad..etc..There are many ways..I wonder if you know or not..

Buddy I think Adnan Randhawa did LLM later on his own but you need to confirm this from Adnan himself. He's usually active on twitter: https://twitter.com/Adnanrandhawa

Respected Awais !!! I have failed to understand why you want to do a medical post graduation during your posting abroad?

Randhawa sab did LLM from china and then resigned from the service to be lawyer.

In my views your postgrad will of no use to you or your professional career if you do it in medicine.

In Foreign office government spend millions on officers to help them develop the skills relevant to Diplomacy. For example. we yearly send our officers to Australia, USA and UK for masters degree program. We send officers for French, Chinese, German, Arabic, Russian ... language training to different Countries. We have a dedecated section in the ministry (Training and Career Planning) section which spend public money on the FSP officers to train them.

if you do post graduation in international relations, law, political science, diplomacy etc. then you'll always be facilitated by the ministry. In my humble opinion, when you'll request the administration to grant you leave to study medicine everyone will label you that you want to secure your medical career by using FSP as a platform as some people in past did.

So decide now whether you want to be a doctor or a diplomat. Decision is always yours.

I wrote all this because I am a doctor and a FSP officer.
