IRS vs OMG: A comparison
Aoa.
Dear all. Hope everyone is doing good. Well, the purpose of this thread is to highlight factual information about both these brilliant Cadres, in comparison with each other. My information is secondary so would require input of current/recent CSPs about the 2. As far as I know, both the groups have rapid promotions, growth opportunities, a better service structure and a bright future. Plus, both have less or negligible authority as well as minimum facilities in Grade 17. While IRS has double pay, approx 66k in start for an Assistant Commissioner, OMG has remarkable mobility which has now become second to PAS. I would like my fellows out here to share further merits, demerits and commonalities of these 2 groups and correct any discrepancy in my information shared above. So here I am. In the Specialized Training Program of Office Management Group.
Well dear, the picture is not that gloomy as we were been told. It is a very reasonable group. The chances of promotion remain high. Despite that there are less perks and privileges in the start, I find it does a very promising group which has a reasonable opportunities to learn, grow and excel in your field. It is one of those few groups in which people can make it to Grade 22, provided they are capable and competent. Majority of people place it at the lesson priority or opt out of it primarily because of the reason that it initially offers less privileges like car, house and stuff like that but otherwise, I must say OMG is a very good group from promotion and progression point of view.

It differs from one person to another, according to his wishes and requirements
PAS, PSP and FSP, apart from promotion, are normally opted on the basis of 1. Perks & privileges 2. Apparent social status and protocols 3. Field postings (Foreign in case of FSP) Few offer facilities while other offer promotion. It is up to the person what he opts and on what criteria.
