Education and Training in IRS after the FPOE

Dear IRS officers, I have heard that the compulsory MBA (TM) for the new officers of IRS/PCS has been discontinued. But if someone voluntarily wants to do it after the FPOE, does s/he need a special permission or approval, or can anyone do it?

Indeed it is true that compulsory MBA has been discontinued. However FBR has made a new policy according to which officers who want to enhance their skills and capabilities are allowed to pursue MBA either at IBA Karachi or LUMS Lahore.
A candidate who wants to avail the opportunity shall

1- get admission into these institutions on his/her own.
2- will have to satisfy the criteria set by the management.
3- after getting admission he/she will write to the FBR and then FBR will make provisions as to the payment of fees by the government.

I hope it was helpful.

Query regarding MBA contents...

@ Resp. Mods/CSP Members/Mumtaz Hayat Maneka Sb

Sir,

How many courses are taught in this MBA? I am asking this question because this MBA is mentioned as only 01 Year MBA and some of my friends who attend MBA classes in evening programs at PAF-KIET and IoBM-CBM (in Karachi) have to study some 28 subjects. How do they cover so many subjects in just one year or the number of subjects for this MBA is some what Less? I have heard that Executive type MBA with lesser subjects is not recognized internationally? Secondly it must be a full time MBA programe for one year? Is it true? Please reply.

@Faseeh Muhammad
AoA

I am not sure about the subjects taught. But the course was called MBA ( Tax Management ), so you can well imagine the kind of subjects taught therein. Judging from the face of it the course must have included Tax Laws, Accounting , Business etc.

P.S : It was a full time one year MBA program.

My relative who is in Tax Group completed this MBA Tax and now he teaches tax course in MBA program of two renowned business institution in Islamabad part time basis and earns Rs. 8000 per hour and his one lecturer consists of 3 hours. Big money he earns and he has three lectures of total 9 hours in one weak.He in light mood says that 1 hour goes in hello hi and taking tea and only two hours class but he is paid for 3 hours. All IRS should enroll in this program for better chances of progress in FBR.
