im allocated in IRS but im confused wether to retain it or appear for better group. and 1 more thing can i have ur email id brother???? please tell me details of about IRS group like
a. Do you get accomodation when u r freshly posted
b. Do you get fecilities like cars after the formation of IRS
c. what is the future promotion prospects of AC IRS
d. Are there any possibilities for getting posted abroad?
e. What are the cities where one is posted mostly?

First of all heartiest congratulations on your allocation in IRS.

It is purely your personal choice. There is no doubt that DMG and FSP are ranked above IRS for females. The incentives include Rapid promotions,international exposure so on and so forth. But they also have some pitfalls like posting in far flung areas in case of DMG , no specific office timings when posted in field formations and For FSP you'll need a very supportive spouse . so this decision lies purely on you and your circumstances.

Accommodation is not readily available in metropolitan cities like Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. But it is available in peripheries like Gujranwala etc

cars are available on seniority Basis. Usually in Metros like Lahore Isbd and Karachi car.s are available for grade 19 and above however some senior Grade 18 officers are also accommodated.

future prospects are very bright Inshallah. As IRS contributes around 80% of Pakistan's revenue. secondly the Government is focusing on ways to improve and enhance tax collections. And IRS is the tool the government has to achieve this end.

I'm afraid not . However one can be posted abroad on deputation.

IRS formations as of now are in cities like Lahore,Karachi,Islamabad,Gujranwala,Hyderabad,sukk ur etc

sir wht exactly do u think ppl who keep customs ovr irs have in their minds? just curious.

Simply 'the royalness of that service. U must have understood now.They r nt after promotions, they have sth else on thieir mind.My opinion which may be wrong. No offence intended.

Sir I read in the paper that even IRS does not have BPS22 but customs has it. So promotion to customs se juri huwi hai wo to unko mile gi hi.
i believe irs people to be more hard working, so arent IRS people after promotion?

Yes you r right, but from now on,i mean after a few years IRS will also have BPS22 seats.Apart from that,Chairman FBR will be appointed from IRS in the future instead of from customs which has been the practice in the past.To be honest, SHORT-TERM PROSPECTS OF CUSTOMS R MORE ENCOURAGING AND PROMISING,WHILE THE LONG-TERM PROSPECTS OF [IRS] R BRIGHTER.

Apart from that, IRS officers will be promoted to higher grades earlier than those of customs'.But Customs is better in the beginning bcoz it has its own charisma which will not go away so easily by only tranferring sales and excise tax.Trade across the borders is being enhanced,so to me, both have equal merits and demerits. Ultimately choice lies with u.
