Every Group has merits and demerits. so is the case with OMG....

Merits..

Firstly, U can see and enjoy the top Bureaucracy in secretariat...This presence in secretariat will evolve good PR with high profiles..

Secondly,You can be seconded to so many departments for 3 years even in 17 grade..U will be a head or high official definitely..

Thirdly , in 18 grade u can serve in District Government.. U cab be a DCO as well.

Fourthly, You can have government provided automobile and residence if you are placed in different organisations...... You can have public dealing jobs unlike other groups....

Finally, the top bureaucratic position is Secretary and cheif secretary...OMG officers of present cadre are most likely to be in that position....

Demerits,

Many people dont like to be in secratariate for first 5 years..Hence they keep it down,,,,

Mr.Kashif Murtaza was in DMG before switching to secretariat group as per the choice exercised by him by virtue of his elevation to BS.20.Secretariat group should not be confused with OMG.Let me clarify from an example from armed forces. There are many arms in army like infantary, armour, artillary etc but when an officer is promoted as colonel, his arm becomes Staff till the rank of Brigadier. After promotion to the rank of Maj General and above, the arm becomes Command. But still the officer's affiliation is considered with his original arm.So in the nutshell,Secretariat group is a pool of officers from different groups in BS 20 and above.I hope my point is clarified and this is shared in good faith with no intention of indulging in pointless debate of which group is better than other because every group and service is unique and unparalleled.

Sir he was a DMG officer thats 100 % confirm. Now coming to the difference between the SG and OMG.please refer to my earlier post.regards

Dear

SG is the group composed of OMG officers in BPS 19 and above with quota from other groups as well but presently more than 90 percent are the people from OMG.DMG people don'"t join this group instead they remain all pakistan service.

All the OMG officers automatically become part of SG in 19 but people from other groups have to opt for it according to their share.

What is APUC (All Pakistan Unified Cadre)? Has it been merged into OMG or otherwise? Please comment.
What is APUC (All Pakistan Unified Cadre)? Has it been merged into OMG or otherwise? Please comment.
I have not heard about APUC as such, but there is an APUG: All Pakistan Unified Group. It includes PSP and DMG (and PAAS, but I am not really sure). This means that officers of APUG can serve throughout Pakistan at all levels: federal, provincial and local.

Apart from APUG, there is a FUG (Federal Unified Group) which includes services like Customs, IRS, CTG, FSP etc whose officers can only serve at federal level. Likewise is there is PUG (Provincial Unified Group) whose officers include PMS/PCS officers etc and they can work at provincial and local level only.

dr adnan rana Friday, December 24, 2010 02:54 PM

APUG comprises of only PSP and DMG.....

Sandhurst Friday, December 24, 2010 03:02 PM

APUG also includes the Secretariat Group in which induction starts at BS-19. Normally officers belonging to OMG automatically join the Secretariat Group on promotion to BS-19 whereas officers from other service groups are inducted on quota basis in the Secretariat Group. PAAS is not APUG. Rather, it comes under Federal Unified Group (FUG).

Mao Zedong Friday, December 24, 2010 05:49 PM

Any other member (preferably a servicing CSP) would like to clarify it: whether the APUG comprises of DMG and PSP only or PAAS and Secretariat Group are also included in it.

Zohaib Baloch Friday, December 24, 2010 07:02 PM

APUG consists of DMG,PSP,and SG only.

Ali Randhava Friday, December 24, 2010 07:21 PM

What is secretariate group?

AoA,
Secretariat group is also called APUG ( All Pakistan Unified Group). But it is different than OMG. OMG is part of APUG. All CSP officer, when promoted to BS-20 are automatically given membership of APUG.

Allah Nighaban O Nasir.

Sandhurst Friday, December 24, 2010 09:00 PM

Thanks Zohaib for confirming my post.

OMG is not APUG and neither do all CSP Officers on promotion to BS-20 become APUG. OMG only consists of officers in BS-17 and 18. When promoted to BS-19, OMG officers join the Secretariat Group which is part of APUG.

Officers in other Federally Constituted Occupational Groups like PAAS, IRS, FSP, PCS, C&TG, MLCG, Railways, Information Group and Postal even if promoted as high as BS-21 do not become APUG unless they formally join the Secretariat Group.
