there is very little information ab this Group.
please do write ab special training subjects and procedure.

This is Mansoor Ali from OMG 37th Common.

OMG is a very good group in terms of promotion and horizontal mobility.
First of all, every OMG officer is posted in the secretariat as Section Officer for first 5 to 8 years but there are a number of attached departments in which one can go on deputation. One can even get posted in provinces on deputation for 3 years which is also extend able for further 2 years. In provinces one can be posted on DMG seat as well.
Another good point is that OMG officers can go for foreign trainings and degree programs. OMG officers are also posted on deputation in foreign missions abroad.
Moreover, the donor agencies and other organizations like UN and USAID take hire OMG officers to run their secretariats and programs in pakistan and they offer a very good pay package.
Another great feature of OMG is that promotion is fastest among all the other occupational groups. There is great number of shortage in secretariat of officers right now so when our batch will be posted, we'll get 18th scale in just 2 years. We can also be posted on 18th scale on acting charge immediately coz there's no one above. The great thing is that we'll all be in 19th scale in just next 8 years which is impossible in DMG.

Some negative points are that OMG officers don't get a car or house immediately. The senior officials in secretariat possess all these facilities and one gets them in 19th scale. but if ur in an attached department or in province on deputation, u can get these facilities subject to availability.

Another problem OMG officers appointed through competitive exam face is that we have to fight promotees or rankers who qualify the promotional exam and join the OMG group. these people affect our seniority. Another category of people are the ones who come from other departments on deputation and get themselves regularised in OMG.

but overall OMG officers are the ones who run not only the secretariat but also have the chance to formulate policies from their desks.

as i have mentioned in the post that OMG probationers can be posted on deputation in provinces for 3 years and it is extendable to next 2 years. and if u have RESOURCES and CONTACTS then u can remain in province for more than this time period

Is there any difference between section officer coming through PCS and CSS in respect of salary and promotion???

Yes !! Section Officer through PCS has rare chances for grade 22 while OMG can get BS - 22. :bow

bt what i have heard they jst spend whole service in ISB and isolated in a single room without any mobility so i put it at 8th in my preference list.

Dont believe what you hear its not like that......you can go on deputation and on missions abroad ....can get foreign postings as well.....
isolated in single room.....what do you mean by that....office or accommodation?
well you get only one room for your office in pretty much all the services and one room is for the staff working under you.....for accomodation if you are single, one room is enough and if you have a family hire a house....govt pays you for that...
the picture is not bleak as portrayed by some....there are tremendous opportunities in OMG....

Respected Senior CSPs!

No group/service is bad because thes are centeal superior services. Although all jobs have negative and positive impact. But the analysis of Mr Mansoor is very valueable.

why secretary level posts are mostly occupied by DMG group? are our deputy secretaries from OMG(css/pcs) not so capable/competent to fill the secretary/Chief Secretary posts?
