Basic query to senior OMGians

i have a chance to be allocated for OMG. I required your help. As omg officers have to live in islamabad, which is very costly city without any accomodation, then who they can survive. Entire salary may diverted towards paying rent of house. What if some one has to support his family too ?
How OMG officers reach office, by public transport or some kind of transportation facility is available(me not talking about cars etc)

Please reply to above query. I have to finance my family as well.

My dad is in OMG..... He did not get official car in BPS 17 and 18. And yes, it is indeed hard to live in Islamabad for a honest officer. however, if one is able to find deputations to ERRA, NDMA, NEPRA etc, then salary can be doubled.

It is indeed going to be very hard to find a house in Islamabad in the amount given as house requisition. In short, it is going to be tough.

After passing FPOE, posting of BPS - 18 is given to PAAS officers. So practically there is only a 6-8 months period in 17 grade for a PAAS officer. No facilities are given in grade 17. However, in grade 18, almost everyone has an official car. However, some offices in Lahore do not have enough cars to give cars to every officer.

However, getting official accommodation in any big city is difficult. In fact, getting an official accommodation is not much dependent on the occupational group. 'Other factors' matter more, rather than the group, in getting a house allotted. In Lahore though, there are around 50 houses reserved for PAAS officers, which are allotted to them on seniority basis.

[B]You can hire a house ,rental ceiling is 14110/- for 17/18 grade officers.your house rent will be deducted from your pay if you hire a house.
Well you can come with your colleagues if they have their own conveyance, public transport is there and easily available and if your Ministry has a Shuttle service (van) then you don't need to worry.Things are not that bad you just have to plan things.[/B]

nauman bhai, there is a thread in PAAS section , in which a senior is saying that there is no use in joining PAAS , because the situation presented by him is really depressing.

BPS-17 scale house rent is 4500 in Punjab.The figure you quoting is special for Islamabad or it is for CSP's. Please explain.

[B]Rental ceiling is for hired residential accommodation in Federal Ministries/Divisions/Attached departments/Subordinated offices at Islamabad,Rawalpindi, Karachi, Lahore, Quetta ,Peshawar .4500 is house rent that you get in your pay when you dont hire a house.
[U]14,110 [/U]is for Islamabad and [U]12,310[/U] is for Rawalpindi and others.[/B](hiring).
