OMG versus INFORMATION GROUP
 

kindly seniors draw a comparison between future prospects of OMG & IG.

Information group Stands nowhere in comparison to OMG.

Information Group officers are stuck to one ministry that is Information Division. Whereas OMG officers can be posted in 35 Federal Ministries as result of direct posting.

Information Group officers dont have chances to get to 22 Grade. But OMG officers have.

OMG ends after 18 Grade and then emerges as Secretariat Group which is part of APUG (ALL pakistan Unified grades). Information Group doesnt have any chance for Unified Grades. In APUG only three groups are there: 1.Secretariat Group.2.DMG.3.PSP.

OMG has got an awesome horizontal Mobility. In other words they can be deputed to a huge number of Departments. But Information group Officers cant be deputed to so many depts. It is because OMG is a management group. Information is not.

OMG officers cant be Assistant Commissioners but can get all other postings that DMG officers can get.

OMG officers can be deputed to Provincial Secretariats and serve as Deputy secretaries, Addl Secretaries etc. An information Officer can never be Deputy secretary or addl secretary.


Unfortunately there is huge differences in Services. Same exam, same policy but different perks to different services and groups.This discourages the competent officers. Information Group is a good group but its nomenclature should be changed into "Communication Group" and they be posted at key posts.

Now that supposedly you have entered the information group, what future prospects have you come across for this group during your interactions? Please share your views on this group.
