100% agreed. Plus, I believe there is also disparity within the various groups. Khair, the bottomline is that it is a Competitive Exam and the tag of CSP in itself has a lot of worth. However, the issue is one still needs to see the realities. Nonetheless, I think with facilities like hiring, deputations etc., things may work out with the passage of time.

The issue of survival with low salary arise when we start thinking of ourselves as above the ordinary people. There are many employees who have less then the salary of BPS-17 officer and living happily in Islamabad.

So my advice is again that we should limit our desires and should cut our cloth according to our size. There is no limit for desires and such people with unlimited desires are always unhappy, even in BPS-22.

Basic needs can be fulfilled in 2 ways ...... you can take lunch from office canteen or you can order from McDonlad. Similar is the case of other daily needs like transport, accomadation etc. that can be fulfilled either way. It is upto you how you will fulfill them

In start every job has problem that are solved with the passage of time. So, no worry and go ahead. You will not be dying of starvation in islamabad.

Brother, I appreciate your vision. I love your ideas but let us be practical and put our heads together to project income & expenditure statement for a BPS-17 civil servant in the environment of Islamabad? If you can produce his/her income expenditure and statement of affair/balance sheet on your hypothesis we can understand it in a better way.

We have always been in agreement on majority of the issues but I perceive we may not build consensus on this issue.

I completely agree with Raz sir. This is nothing personal. But if I have put the same level of energy and effort for being one of the 250 people of Pakistan to land in CSA, I deserve the same facilities if not the same authority! Agreed that I won't get PAS or FSP but still I deserve a respectable lifestyle. Being a daughter of a govt officer I know the hitches of govt service and the lifestyle of a simple Pakistani too. As an honest govt officer is an ordinary Pakistani too!
Omg, railways or postal, all departments deserve an equal availability of accommodation and transportation. And if they make you live in an expensive city like Islamabad, they should provide for these basic needs too!

This is one of the best groups in css cadre because
1) Promotion structure is refined.
2) Deputation in CDA, Passport and immigration, Prime minister secreteriat, PRSP, NRSP, SOFTA, BISP, Foreign embassies, are quite possible if you decide to get them and do your full effort. Not a big issue. On all these deputation u get vehicle, accommodation, double salary. Many officers are serving as deputy secretary in provinces.
3) Regarding foreign visits and courses this group is at number 2 position after PAS. You earn as well as learn there.
4) Regarding problem of rapid transfers this group is the best because you live in Islamabad all the life.
5) There are many housing societies like Cabinet Division Employees co-operative housing societies who provide plots for employees in ministries on installments while providing registration at the time of down payment.
6) Regarding career the new federal secretary establishment is from OMG. Everyone from OMG will be able to get 21 and some will retire in 22.
7) Being section officer one plays his role in decision making process while working in federal controlling authority having guidance from secretaries and ministers; OMG officers become more refined officers in their careers.
8) Many OMG officers worked as AC, DC in districts but they are not getting these posts now because Local Government system is not under implement. As soon as LG system will be functional OMG officers will serve in districts however in pleasure of political persons.
9) The pay issue could be resolved if your better half is earning half. You can even save a few bucks every month. The people who don't like to get benefits in PAS also have this problem. Pay is same there. The people who take benefit of their seat in OMG and misuse their positions also earn money but not good reputation.
10) SO general in ministries also get vehicle.
11) Serving as PSO to minister will also enable you to have some extra privileges.
12) Tensions in Police and DMG are much more than this group. For an honest person this the best group to serve.

I assure you that this group is a wonderful one but if you are lucky enough, hard worker, humble and social. Last year 8 doctors(MBBS) joined this group and people who talk against it know little about it. I am not in favor of comparing groups but without any bias i rated it above PMS and after DMG, Police, IRS Customs and FSP: Plz no debate on this issue ). Hard work is the key to success and all groups are good enough to provide you a base where you can get best chances to serve the nation.

Well, i have spent some years in Islamabad in BPS -17 and i had no problem that arise due to low pay ! I used to travel on public transport and was enjoying it. I had rented a room (being single) and shared it with colleague. For dinner, we had discovered a Briyani House, and breakfast/lunch at office canteen. We used to spent weekend at home (Lahore) and we used to avail lot of leave (C/L, LFP, R&R, Medical) So the time passed smoothly

Group is not bad, all groups have their own worth but issue is facilities
