The primary duty of AC is Land Revenue collection. He is the appellate authority for revenue cases. The Govt may assign him other duties of general administration, but primarily he is a revenue officer and in field acts as a Collector (Land Revenue). In the LGO-2001, their positions were designated as Deputy District Officer (Revenue) - DDO(R).
The EDO (Revenue) post has been abolished in all provinces. Their powers are purely of appellate nature, which have been assigned to Commissioners of Divisions. Similarly the post of District Officer (Revenue) has been abolished and powers assigned back to Deputy Commissioners (in Sindh and Balochistan), and to DCO in Punjab.
