As far as I know, this should not bar you from joining Civil Services, except for Police Service probably. But please get a clarification on this from Federal Public Service Commission in Islamabad F-5.

I will endorse maliasghar, there may not be problem with this. Nevertheless, you need to check from the FPSC.

Small Correction: One can only join DMG/PAS through CSS...the service starts from BPS-17 and only officers coming through CSS examination are a part of it
..PMS is a different service, although it has quota in field postings of AC,DC,Commissioner etc

If I am not mistaken, PMS officers have been granted a quota of 10 percent in the Pakistan Administrative Service.

I would disagree ,Sir. Dr.Waqar Masood was inducted in DMG in BPS-21 by Benazir Bhutto during her second stint as PM.

There have been very few cases like this in the history of DMG..wouldn't even amount to 25,30 in the past 66 years...About the 10% quota..no inductions have been made in DMG through that quota up till now,and its not entirely clear whether that would materialize..and Mr Waqar Masood is a technocrat. In BPS-21,your'e either inducted into the secretariat group or as a technocrat..I'm not saying there's a problem with 10% quota for PMS..

Yes, there was a proposal to grant 10% quota to PMS officers in Pakistan Administrative Service but this has not yet been materialized. However, PMS officers can also be posted as AC, DC and Commissioners etc but their postings are only limited to their home province and their promotions are quite slow. Furthermore, BPS-21 is the biggest grade as far as PMS is concerned whereas PAS/ex-DMG officers can go up-to BPS-22.
There is no comparison of horizontal and lateral mobility of PAS and PMS. In this sphere, PAS has a commanding edge.
Sir.Hamza Salick is an authority when it comes to information regarding service groups. Mr. Waqar Masood was inducted in Secretariat Group, through spoils system, during the era of Benazir Bhutto. He has nothing to do with DMG.
