Default Present Day Status of PCS

With the division of CBR into FBR and ''supposed'' curtailment of powers of the group in the yesteryears', what is the status of the cadre currently? The quality of service, promotional bottlenecks, as well as the perks and privileges that go with it etc?

I would urge serving PCS officials to contribute to this post, or others who could offer considerable insight into the matter. I would also appreciate members to enlighten us with the nature and duration of CTP/STP of the group.

Cannot shed light on the your former question of the conversion of CBR into FBR but I will answer your second question.

The CTP is of 6 months presently. Previously it used to extend to 10 months or a year.
The STP of customs is 6-7 months presently. After that, some trainings may be conducted in the foreign but the service starts right away after STP, in the field i mean
You can find the answer to your "perks and privileges" and "promotions" questions while browsing through other posts...

The job of Customs Officer is adventurous. You will enjoy it (talking about ield job - job at FBR HQ is bit boring)
Pays are good. Salary of Assistant Collector is around 75k.

My uncle is Collector Customs. So have complete info about Customs. You can ask further questions !
