Exclamation Issue of Promotion in Customs Resolved.

There were rumours around that promotion in the customs cadre is affecting promotion prospects and will keep on affecting in the future as well.
After recent promotions of CSB and DPC, officers of 27th CTP have been promoted to BPS 19 and officers of 35th CTP are being promoted to BPS 18.

It was possible only due to special efforts of last two chairman FBR who belong to Customs who brought following reforms.

1. Formation of separate collectorate at Gilgit Baltistan
2. Formation of two (2) collectorates at lahore (Appraisement & Preventive)
3. Formation of three (3) new Directorates customs Intelligence & Investigation at Faisalabad, Queta, Peshawer.
4. Formation of six (6) Collectorates of Customs Adjudication at different stations.
5. Formation of Directorate General of Transit Trade, with regional directorates at, Karachi, Peshawer, Queta & Lahore separately.
6. Formation of Directorate General Of Intellectual Property Rights Enforcement with many separate regional Directorates.
7. Formation of Directorate General of Risk Management with many separate regional Directorates.
8. Formation of Directorate General of Reform & Automation with many separate regional Directorates.

All these reforms have been materialized and officers have been posted in these formations. There are many more reforms in the pipeline.

Smile @Doctor sahab .

It is a pleasure to see manyy positive reforms being implemented in the customs department. customs would flourish in future and make progress by leaps and bounds.

I am ambitious to join Pak customs, I would highly appreciate if you could guide me.

1) is it true PCS officials frequently get deputation to IRS and vice versa (I have read quite notifications issued in this regard by FBR)

2) In which cities PCS officials normally posted? I am from Karachi and desire to spend majority time in service here in KHI (i know its not possible, but just saying)

3)Customs is famous for some ulterior motives (being honest), I want to ask a very imp question, is PCS a highly politicized group? Is it possible for an honest csp officer to 'survive' in this group and make a decent living?

I have kept this group as my second preference after DMG/PAS.

Thank you and Best Regards.

Dear Customs is undergoing reforms and let me assure you that customs has remarkeable potential of expansion & reforms. There are many many areas still untapped. You will see this as Land Customs is going to develop in a year or two at Wahgah Border Lahore after Afghan Pakistan Transit Trade Agreement & MFN status to India(not given yet but expected to be given in a year or two and after MFN you will see a new boom of customs).

1. Officers of IRS & Customs are not posted frequently as u said because both are separate cadres and postings in others service or cadre is under section 10 that is not an easy task.Still very few officers especially females of customs get postings in IRS only to be stationed at a station where no customs formation is present.

2. Postings of customs are in major cities Karachi, lahore, peshawer, queta, multan, faisalabad,si alkot, gilgit, gawader, islamabad. If you belong to karachi then you are the luckiest one as you can spend your entire life at karachi in customs (karachi is considered to be one of the best station in customs). So you can easily get first posting in karachi and spend your entire life filled with professionalism.

3.There many many legal incentives in customs that are second to none e.g.vehicles,servants,double salary, accomodation in most of the stations, customs common pool fund, bonus for detecting any fraud or any case.So you need not to worry about that.

Goodluck

Aoa.Dr Sahib God bless you, you are rendering invalueable services to all aspirents.
Sir I have attempted CSS 2013, i am inclined towards customs for three reasons:
(a) Being Lahori I can get immediate posting in Lahore, which is valueable for a homesick person like me.
(b) Customs is less hctic then PAS & PPS.
(c) I would have opportunity of government residence.

for these persumeable advantages i am even thinking of preferring Customs over PAS & PPS. How would you evaluate this sentiment , being a veteran.

Dear there is no doubt that you can get your first posting in lahore in customs but staying in lahore for a longer period is not so easy. For you will be transferred to other station or other collectorate within lahore after your tenure matures. Normal tenure for posting is 2 to 3 years. So if you want to stay in lahore for longer period then IRS or PAAS are the options.

I shall be so thankful. Looking Forward towards your kind response. Best, Dr Mohammed Yozan Malik.

Dear first post of this thread contains answer to your question regarding promotion (27th CTP of Customs have been promoted to BPS 19 while 35th CTP promoted to BPS 18 on regular basis ,that is the same compared with other groups) . As far as your second is concerned i,ll simply say Customs is still a royal service , no match n comparison....

Thank You Dr. Rana. Kindly. Please also enlighten me that I am more focused towards PCS and want to be a part of this royal service. So, my question is very simple. Q: Where should PCS stand on my preference list you kept PCS on 3rd and your batch mates. I want to keep PCS as my first preference, what are the chances of getting a seat in PCS? Second Part, PCS seat is allocated according to preference and what is the merit for PCS? Thirdly, Do you know any PCS officer by the name 'Dr. Imran Rasool', He is my brother in law and posted as deputy collector in karachi. Any idea about him?? Best,

Dear Dr Adnan, Assalamu Alaikum!
Warahmathullahi Wabarakathuhu. May Peace and blessings be upon you. Q: I need to meet you and talk to you in person. Is there any possibility that I can talk to you one on one and get know how of PCS. Can I have your contact number? I am so very looking Forward To Talk To You & Towards Your Kind Response. Best,
