Please draw a realistic picture of life in PSP
 

i want seniors to draw a realistic picture of life in PSP and its comparison with rest of the CSS groups/Services.

Facilities and Life of a PSP
1. 3-door Cruiser worth Rs.3,900,000 with a Neeli Batti
2. Aalishan Ghar
3. Aalishan Office with hundreds of uniforms standing outside
4. A line of local MPAs and MNAs and candidates
5. A lot of gifts which are to be accepted or rejected falling on the charachter of the officer.
6. Hundreds of people looking for justice, all by your one word.
7. A line of cars (gifts) by local investors
8. Some officers leave outside their office some consultants which make an officer billionaire in months but some officers open their doors for general public to come in straightaway without any reference. (SPs like Dar Ali Khattak PSP)
9. Officers are posted far from their home stations so they roam around the city and the district in the evening for a hangout and public keeps pointing and staring while saying "Ye Naya SP aya hai." Then goes to several police stations to judge inquiries.
10. When you go in markets, people die just for a shake hand with you.
11. At night, SPs roam around the police stations and Naaka's to check the police on duty. In the morning, wakes up, goes to office... same routine follows.

Brother, you have mentioned PSP as an ideal job but what about the perils associated with it?

- Life threats frequently by terrorists groups in these days)
- Political presurres
- Media accountability
- Meager salary (as SP cannot wear his uniform all the time)
- Little time for family/parents
- No fixed timing of work
- Unable to settle himself at a station for 2-3 years (frequent transfers leading to difficulty in moving family, kids' schools etc.)
- Allocated to desired posts on political grounds usually
- and many more.

-Life threats are to those who have been personal to those terrorist groups
-Political pressures are on those who are corrupt and get postings by political help, if u are on merit, you do not need to bear these small pressures.
-If you are right then you don't need to get afraid of media sir.
-You can earn a lot if you like to:cool::cool:
-Yes you have little time for family.
-Absolutely right no fix time of duty.
-You can take these transfers in a positive way, you are lucky to roam around beloved Pakistan free of cost and with protocols.
-This happens to personnel of Punjab Police not to PSPs.
-and nothing more sir !!!

political pressure is always on the police officers and they have to succumb because it can lead to dire circumstances, an ig has to beg infront of an mpa. i myself have seen IGs sitting at the door steps of politicians. go to small town u would find it. police service is just pandering for politicians. you can be osd in no time if u say no, psp is overrated and having stick in ones hand does not mean u would act freely

Well Mangat if you excuse my straight forwardness, I don find your response realistic in any way.
My mamon is SSP and the realities I see in his life are the exact opposite to what you stated.

I think people like me and you are least concerned about the police officers these days. They never know who has been appointed unless and until their hard luck takes them to police station.

This is what I have the most serious objection to…. Unfortunately, there is no such respect associated with police officers in our society. When my uncle is on duty he can't even go to a restaurant. He thinks he feels humiliated when without him ordering anything they bring mutton n chicken for him and denies billing, saying, [B]“ab hum ap se pasay laien gae???” [/B]Infact he has to bring his lunch from home to take it hours afterward. Therefore I think this is a blessing that in a more practical world people do not recognize police officers without uniform. Otherwise, I can't even imagine what his social family life could have been…………….

Fine he has a three door land cruiser and I am not very sure about the quoted price but all along with 'Neeli Batti' it has a look and feel of a modified form of 'Sarkari Jeep'.. And obviously this is not for personal use but strictt official use; at least as per the rules.

I remember him transferred to a main station.. as we know there are more accommodation problems in main cities. His family had to stay in a three room govt quarter for 6-8 months before the previous officer vacated the house. And about that allocated house as well, I don think it can be termed 'alishan' but a reasonable accommodation, for sure.

Now this is Pakistan here not even the CJ himself can give justice to anyone by one word. I think in our present system being corrupt is much easier than being honest.


The topic of this thread is a good one. I am still waiting for a response from someone who has been to services. I remember a response to your post about its limitations but that was removed. [I]Now I think if this is the only response that can be allowed here then at least the word 'realistic' should be removed from title of this thread.[/I]

Honestly speaking this response annoyed me the very first day. I don't know much about life in PSP so remained silent. The only reason for this contribution is, I think there are a lot of new comers and juniors here who can be misguided by such 'realistic pictures'. I don't know the whole picture but this is the way I see his life from some distance.

True .. But one can be kind and honest as a PSP when hard luck takes someone to police station .. By doing so the concerned officer can efface the negativities regarding police officers in the minds of at least those whom he comes in contact with ..

I think thats a fantastic opportunity to gain some 'Sawab' by rejecting these kinda offers .. having being offered is not your problem as a police officer, acceptance is .. And if you reject once they'l think twice before offering again .. Anyways, I would like them keep offering and me keep rejecting .. :P

Absolutely .. NO personal use and 'Neeli Batti' is a responsibility, not a 'Pagrri' (turban) to be proud of ..

Good .. Residence is to reside, It should be clean and having basic facilities .. If you want luxury, join something other than PSP ..

True .. But being honest has always been harder, not just 'in our present system' .. It has been like this since long .. Life's not easy .. Then add into it some more hardship and be honest .. :vic

There's no ideal life .. Set your goals & merits, give ur best to avoid any immoralities and be contended with yourself if u do that ..

I would love to join PSP and InshaAllah Allah will keep me upright when time comes .. Same dua for all other PSP aspirants

life is PSP is tough and rough.
some SPs and ASPs go late at night to their homes.
bear so much pressure from various sectors apart from whether one is corrupt or not.
i remember one of SP saying me:
"o doctor sb yeh wardi ka chuss he warna police ki naukri me khawari he,i will recommend you to go for DMG. humarey hum-umer jo DMG me he hum se zyada behtar he or zyada young he. idhar buhat khich khich he or responsibility ilahda"
daily routine is more like this:
have to come at 8-9 to office because official time starts from it
then proceedings and files and reports of all police stations
check security measures,chalk out daily plans and many other such issues
many visitors to deal with,requires alot of stamina because everyone is there asking for a favour or good relations.
late in evening recheck security plan and some break is also there
if any VVIP movement in area then plan security and provide security for that.
have to look at all police stations under him and also finalise daily documentation
sometimes it gets 2-3 in the morning when they return home

many officers are deployed for VVIP securities and movement

less time for sleep
less time for family
i quote here a DSP:
yar kamal he ho gya 3 haftey ho gye beti ki shakl dekhey itni buri tra phansa ho

now what a police officer enjoys
power of uniform
salutes
links and PR
easy goings in many ways
privileges

problems faced by him
no family life,cannot enjoy it
low salary to maintain the"tor" of being SP
no personal life
stress-pressures specially political,always a sword of suspension or transfer hanging right over them
every one is ready to bribe you because of culture
addicted to power and salutes

we all have an image of police officer enjoying power ,money and links but see their lives in person and one will realize that it is tough to be a police officer.they have a big responsibility.
i cannot deny corruption in police officers.
we(me & friends) use to make fun of police officers by saying :
with great power comes great corruption :haha
but reality is much different and can only be seen by seeing those people work.
still many things i have not mentioned here but i recommend those who aspire for PSP to go see lives of these officers for one day

yes dear i completely agree with ur comments about police officer`s life and their responsibilities,
my father was also s.p he passed away ALLAH bless his soul ameen
what am i seeing now through my lens is job has two parallels, the persons who come in fold of police department get 2 options
1. to adopt policy of flunky,sough,sin,sin,sin,forget social virtues,humanitarian aspects,humanitism,only obey the orders confiscate,confine if one is right or wrong he has concern only with the command, and he faces the aftermath of the injustice he made with the individual by dragging him in high courts/lowe courts, tightning their belts,show cause notices and sometimes high punishment as suspension. recently a css qualifier from punjab deployed in our district as he doesn`t know about the rules and regulations so called old tradition he did police raid upon house with heavy contingent that resulted the petitioner files charges against him as illegally raid upon his house and stolen 10 tola gold,150,000 cash and etc the sum of amount was 450,000 and judge taking an stern action as he was against police and bureaucrates charged him with fine of above amount 450,000/- to pay the petitioner and also filed an F.I.R against that s.p at the same police station
2. this option is mostly use by honest officers either they put their posting in vvip security or confront with the feudal lords, maintain its prestige,fair play and justice with the people as a public servant
i like to quote here hamid mir`s column in which he adivced and feeled shamed upon a css qualifier s.p who was soughing to cm punjab shehbaz sharif for posting....
now a days situation created in pak and police role in it its only a role of prostitute, i know what is happened but it is the fact
i filed a case in high court i know how judge called the s.p he was also css qualifier but when he came in the court room judge loosened his belts
police job is toughest, one must think 10 times before he acquire and one must have no family,no relations,rigid,pain taker and a leg puller
ties with the bad guys helps get bad guys

i completely agree with z. dalvi police service is no more than pandering for politicians. say no or resist and u would be osd. i know some digs who would not mind to stay infront of the doors of politicians whole of their lives to get promotion
