After around 3 years of service as ASP, the officer is promoted to the rank of SP.

2-years training and 3 years service is equal to 5 years (as Prince said 5 years).

Sir its not necessary that a DPO has to be an SSP. The DPO in my native district is an SP. It varies from district to district. Some districts are small like Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin and some are large like the old Sheikhupura.

Yes, if we count the years of training in it, then it takes 5 years to become SP.

By law, it is necessary. The DPO should not be below the rank of SSP. But some times SPs are given the charge of DPO on acting charge basis.

Even in Balochistan a DSP, acting SP is serving as DPO of a strategically very important district. Moreover, once DIG operation Quetta was SP for more than one year. Postings depends on political influence and who cares law in our country, might is right.

Its like an ASI can be appointed as an SHO, a sub inspector can be appointed like an SHO. The DPOs I'm seeing in my district from the past many years have always been SPs. Otherwise I appreciate you reference.

Yes you are right, it depends upon the ruling party.

No idea about what an SDPO is. A DPO is District Police Officer.

Depends. If one has a political approach, he takes a few years to become an SSP.
