confusion

one of my friend is a son of a grade20 police officer..He is always found using different green number plate luxrious vehicles..and he says dat his father is a dead honest officer..and when i asked him about the vehicles he use ,,he says it is given by government for family use,,plus he told me that gas and electricity bills are paid by government..well i didnt believe in what he told me ,but he is a full beard guy and really nice,,so that makes me confuse,, because i have heard vehicles are not allowed for family use and neither bills are paid by government...plz seniors reply to it as most of us have wrong ideas about perks and privileges in police..

What is the name of the vehicle? I'll compare his lifestyle with the dead honest officers I know.

Firstly, a grade 20 officer is not given a luxury vehicle. He is given a Toyota Corolla with green number plate. He also has a couple of official cars for official use ONLY but these cars are kept in the office. For his personal use he has ONE car only. So if your friend keeps changing cars regularly then there is something fishy. And yaar many bureaucrats I know have performed Hajj but they are very corrupt people. So just because one has a beard does not necessarily mean he is an honest man and vice versa. I have written all this from my perspective and from what I have seen. But yes, they are given other benefits which reduce their living expenses.

Their electricity bills and gas bills are not completely paid I think but they are given handsome discounts. I may be wrong though. And no it is not allowed for the family to use the car.

Normally one car is allowed for family use for the officer of grade 20 with limit of fuel ceiling. However the electricity and gas bills of the residence is required to be paid from own pocket. In addition to that the telephone / mobile is allowed with maximum limit. The house facility is allowed subject to deduction of House rent allowance of the officer whereas the servant is permissible.

I don't think a car is given to the family. I have seen a grade 21 officer (Add. IG) and I think even he does not have a car for his family. I may be wrong though. Do you have any evidence to suggest this?
