There isn't any comparison between captain and SSP. Because captains in army struggle hard and appear in bulk before FPSC to get allocated in PSP and that too at the rank of ASP.
You should compare SSP with Brigadier at least and in my view SSP/DPO has much more influence, protocol, facilities and social recognition.
over eulogizing of psp service. if its so you cant find people leaving civil service and police service in particular and opt for business and other professions. civil servants and their kids always suffer through the complex of money. they always want to rub their shoulders with industrialists and businessmen. i do admit politicians and businessmen want to develop their relations with them but for what? just to use them like tissue paper and when they are not at seat( having inferior posting) throw them away dont even bother to pick their calls. transfer posting issues, they have to lick the shoes of political boses to get good posting. i have never seen any industrialist's son or daughter opting for civil service. there is not any thing more powerful than money.

Default No comparison

I would agree that SSP is way more powerful particularly as DPO. Captain has his share of uniform but facilities and powers are simply not comparable. You can compare DPO with Brigadier at least in terms of facilities. It also depends upon the posting. Sometimes a captain can be very effective and influential and sometimes a DPO can be sidelined or powerless. But generally, DPO and Civil Service is the bulwark of facilities and perks. It also varies with province. In Punjab situation is tilted in favour of Civil service but in rest of the provinces especially balochistan and kp, military has strong ingress and captain is quite an influential person.

SSP has far more facilities and power than a Brigadier. People just overdo in case of army.
