Seniors may I know that what happens next when any PSP officer is made OSD or it is merely an act to calm down public sentiments.

In such occassions, there are two meanings of this term. First to calm down public sentiments, and second is initiation of enquiry against the officer. The officer is not assigned any other responsibility till time enquiry proceedings are completed.
