Question related to PSP Plus a general issue to discuss
Aslam-O-Alikum to everyone reading this thread.I'm 20 and planning to appear in 2016 (which will be my first eligible attempt) I have few questions to ask about PSP but along with that I want people especially seniors to discuss one importantly general point, that is why I am posting it here in FAQs.
I have seen everyone here say they want to be a CSP officer so that they may serve Pakistan. Yet bureaucracy is known as one of the most corrupt service. (I have no insights but it is the common perception) in media, literature and everywhere . I am really curious to know the reasons that people change after becoming officers. I know salary of new CSP officer is not huge so is it because of that fact that people run towards easy money or there is immense pressure from politicians and seniors that they are compelled to do wrong deeds. Please do not take me wrong I am not writing it to defame civil services. I have great love for these services and that is why I am asking these things so that I may know in advance the type of circumstances I would be facing if I join them . Everyone who is either present or ex. bureaucrat or have any kind of insight related to it please discuss. Now coming towards my other questions. earlier CSS itself was craze for me but now my love for PSP is a lot more than any other group. The reasons being that I like the thrill, action and I really want to fight evil in our society and I believe this is the best group to do so along with satisfying my hunger to solve mysteries, (I like detective work since my childhood) . But along with this I have great interest in research work. so I basically want to know what are the opportunities of higher studies , of course related to the field .For example degree related to criminology etc . Plus are there any chances of research such as criminal psychology, etc in PSP . If yes is it easy to pursue ? Secondly What type of pressures do PSP officers face. Of course they are like leaving the culprit type but are they too immense . What could be the circumstances if the officer refuse to listen them . I think transfer is the most obvious one but please write about other circumstances . Looking forward to informative replies |

Yes it true that a CSP comes across many opportunities of corruption and malpractice yet it depends upon your personal preferences...Being a part of PSP myself, I reckon the salary, perks and privileges in PSP are much more handsome than many other groups say DMG/PAS. Secondly, you have to face political and bureaucratic interventions and pressures of every kind. Again its a matter of your personal choice, whether you want to perform your duties or enjoy your service. Your preference would determine the level of pressure you take by the end of the day.... Hope every thing is clear now
