Postal service is no doubt a great group.....

however, some misconceptions lie with Postal group.
If you will ask the senior bureaucrats , you will come to know that Postal group is a very good group...........

Many think that it is confined to sending letters..it is wrong concept...It has a number of duties and has many prerogatives which other groups dont enjoy....

In postal Service , a csp can have appointing authority of even 7 grade official which none on the group has in initial stages..............

one can be deputed in a number of other government and semi-govt departments........................

Postal service group name be changed..............it should be called Communication group..................................due to its nomenclature, it is misunderstood....

After CSS you will undergo Potsla Training at Islamabad Postal Staff College and then after training you will be posted to various Offices through out Pakistan because you are a Federal Officer
Pak Post is headed by Director General Pak Post and Postmaster Generals (Basic Scale-20) report to him directly. If i am not wrong, each province has one Postmaster General (PMG) abd Officer headed by a PMG is Called Generally Circle Office which serves a considerable area if not whole province. Then Deputy Postmaster Generals (Basic Scale-19) report to PMGs and offices headed by Dy PMGs are called Regional Offices under whose administrative Control General Post Office (Headed by Chief Postmaster) and Small Post Offices (Headed by Postmasters,APMs etc depending the type of Post Office (Higher Selection Grade Post Office by a BS-14 and Sub Post Office by a BS-11 of BS-9) function.
Directorate General PPO --------- -DG PAK POST
Circle Office------------------------POSTMASTER GENERAL
Regional Office---------------------Deputy POSTMASTER GENERAL
Divisional Offices-------------------Divisional Superintendent Post Offices

As a new Officer, most officers are posted to Many Divisions as DSPO (Divisional Superintendent Post Offices) and yo will have under your direct Command not less than 600-700 people including Postmasters, Clerks, Postmen, and Staff operating many Small Post Offices. The number of Post Offices in a Division (commanded by DSPO) CAN VARY depending upon the area i.e Rural or Urban. Approximately 70-90 post offices in City Area under a Division and in Rural Areas Post Offices are very distant and many be upto 150-170 (may be you cannot avail time to visit each of the post offices during your normal tenure of 3 years). You have full powers and contingencies while serving as DSPO in a Division or Unit and enjoy a lot if in city area.
Normally Family accommodation is provided to DSPO.
A Potohar Jeep or a Suzuki Carry Hi-Roof if in city area at your disposal with driver. You cannot expect Land Cruisers........... Sorry for that.
You are Competent Authority to Exercise your Powers upto Basic Scale-07 (may be BS-9 after upgradation). You can take discipline action at your own. Dont need to look at high ups for every step. With such a huge system at your disposal you have to be aware of what is going on so Inspectors, Town Inspectors will assist you. You will have to Visit each Post Office twice a year for Inspection and once for normal Mini-visit (you will be receive warmly everywhere being the King of Unit) but Please dont mess up inspection of post office is not easy you have to do some work there. Any Fraud (many do occur at least a unit carried 20-25 fraud cases at a time), Loss, Theft at Post Office .

You are responsible for each and every thing happening in your Unit and all post offices under your command.
Its a king like job.
Visits to Far Post Offices let you fetch some TA/DAs and its your main job too.
You will have to see your Boss Deputy PMG or a PMG occasionally.
Your Own office where you will sit will comprise of 10-12 clerks and 3-4 Assistant Superintendeds (graduate inspectors BS-14) and 3-4 Town Inspectors (bs-11) and Mail Over Seers. This will be your own staff (keep in mind whole unit is your own staff) but these 15-20 people sitting in your office constitute Admin Office of the whole Unit with each clerk working for one branch.
Mainly J-Branch (Budget branch)
Loss & Fraud Branch - deals with losses and frauds
PT-Branch deals with provincial taxes
B-I and B-II branches ( these are Staff branches and clerks holding these office are mostly backed /supported (clandestinely) by Unions. So be aware.
G-branch and A-branch are routine functional for post office operations.
So thats it if you are a new officer its all a general view i hope it helps
