Default Nuclear Supplier Group NSG

NSG is the group of 48 Nations. It was formed in 1975 to control proliferation of nuclear weapons. Today NGS is a main tool to control exports and proliferation of material that could be used in making weapons of mass destruction.
India and Pakistan has submitted to be the member of the group in last month, it is expected the issue will be taken into consideration in this week either to grant membership of both, one or none in the group. India enjoys the support of world powers, UK, USA, France, Russia and other countries. Pakistan has support of China, China also has resisted the membership of India. Both India and Pakistan has not signed the NTP treaty.
Pakistan considers that if India is granted the membership it will block the entry of Pakistan in future and it will have more access to nuclear technology which will cause never ending nuclear race in south Asia. Therefore both countries should be granted membership to maintain balance of power in South Asia.

Default NSG Plenary session 23-24 June.

NSG session is going to be held in this week to take up the applications of Pakistan and India for membership in Seoul. The decision of group will have greater impact on the future of South Asia, it is the matter of peace and stability of the region as China emphasize. India enjoys much support than Pakistan. India wants merit-based approach based on geopolitics and geoeconomic and Pakistan wants the transparent criteria based approach. It should be noted that both nations are not signatories of Non-Proliferation Treaty NPT.

Default NSG Session

NSG session terms NPT bedrock of the non-proliferation, India being non-NPT did not succeed in getting membership. Many western countries that earlier pledged the support of India opposed on the basis that it is not the member of NPT treaty. However discussion on either to consider non-NPT countries for membership would be continued till next session.
