FATA needs to integrated with KP or should be made separate province to bring democracy in the region. Currently, we don't have elections in FATA.

In most simplest terms, FATA is being administered like a "Colony". Draconian Laws of Colonial era are still enforced in this region. At colonial times of Sub-continent, their only purpose was to have tightest control over masses. Moreover, Their is representation issues at the National Assembly.

People of FATA want this region to be merged with KPK to avail all the benefits which a proper province of Pakistan avails. They will no longer be a "Separate Part" of Pakistan but a regular province.

As far as its question of "Separate Province" status is concerned, there is some concerns among different sections of society (specially military) that it would turn into another Balochistan and enemies of peace will exploit the situation and air the separatist movements. If this would be merged with KPK, it would be relatively difficult.

However, merging it with KPK has some inherent problems. First of which is the ethnic make up of the regions. Merging both regions will disturb the majority of KPK therefore, people of KPK are somewhat against it.

Second, there are political reasons. JUI-F is the most vocal opponent of its merger with KPK because it will loose its vote bank in this region.

This is brief insight on the issue.

Healthy and useful debate is most welcome

Good. Now it seems a big problem for federation, Suppose you are PM Nawaz Sharif, what would be your FATA reforms, considering national interest to become a head of government.

Ohhh..... ALLAH save me from becoming Nawaz Sharif.......

as far as FATA reforms are concerned, their immediate concern is "Inclusion in the mainstream". Special attention should be given to this region's growth and development. Giving them QUOTA in jobs is not enough. They may enter in the job market through this system but they can excel in such a competitive market without capability. Therefore, what they need more is 'Capacity Building". There should be more Schools, colleges and Universities where they are providing education at par with other provinces. Teachers from other provinces must deploy in these educational institutes. Further, there must be plenty of Training institutes so there would be SMEs or they would be enable to generate income for themselves.

Of Course, putting all political compromises and "next election interests" aside, it should be immediately merged with KPK but this merger must not "hasty" rather it should be "systematic". there should be proper inclusion of FATA residence in the provincial government job market, use of media to "merge" both societies. Intermarriage must be promoted etc....

Abolition of Draconian Laws of colonial rules must be the top most priority.

Youth msut be prepared to take the helms of "Politics" in their own hands rather than be "slaves" of Jagirdars.....

A forum should be formed where members of both KPK and FATA could discuss their problems and amicably find solution because arise of some disputes and problems after merger are inevitable....

that's it from my side..... Pour more in......
