Exclamation Another danger looming large ! !

Kashmir Times reports. According to Dr GM Bhatt of Jammu university ,the contentious Baglihar dam is constructed at distance of 50 metres from a highly active subterranean seismic fault. In case of an even moderate eartquake , the probability of Dam birst is very high. Because the dam is built on the fragile 'concrete straight' technique , which mostly results in a greater amount of damage. According to te experts from indian geological survey, most of the dams in that area are built on 'masnory' consturction techniques. These construction techniques are highly technical in nature, but the bottom line of my text is that , in case of a dam burst , an unimaginable catastrophe could follow the course(these are the fears rendered by the experts from indian geological survey and jammu university ) . its burst could be beneficial for pak. in the long run, but it will bring an uncontrolable havoc in the short run, esp to the alluvian planes of punjab and sind. your comments are welcome on the issue

Assalam Alaikum,

Brother, all I can say that India and Pakistan both should reconsider their pirorities, instead of talking down to each other. The fact of the matter is that these countries don't even have the updated higher seismic activities maps and such, let alone the contruction methods of infrastructure that should be used in such areas.

One can hope that the history does not repeat itself, and we learn from our mistakes, so another catostrophe is not at the corner waiting to happened.

Thanks.

Assalam o Alaikum,
how r u?
brother naveed i m fully agree with u that there are some lack in our techniques of constructing dams. As for as kalla bagh dam is concerned which is highly recommended by the engineers but due to some political parties whom have created obstacles in its way to accomplish this bigh project which can serve our needs for energy through electricity. The basic flaw which is left in Kala bagh dam is that, they have made economic, technical feasibility of the dam but only they couldn't be able to make POLITICAL feasibility which makes this project dillemma!!!

I hope our leaders will try to make this project feasible which is really a dire need in the expanding need of energy in Pakistan.

Thanks!!!

But the objection is genuine... they say if you take out all of the electricity from water... how good would it be for us!!! think about it :p

AoA

haa haaa, dear Sam, this is really a matter of concern

well i can remember another thing, i was told (i dont know its authenticity)

there was a test of engineers (dont know either they were civil, mechnical etc.) the board asked from a candidate how oil can be extracted from soil.

He replied, no sir, it is not extracted from soil, it is extracted from sand, and the process is very easy, place sand in a presure machinery, press it nd you would get petrol.

The board perturbed nd asked, how you say ?

he replied, sir this is the reason that middle east is having maximum petrol reserves, it is becuase of presence of sand, they press sand and get petrol, it is simple .........'''

the same problem is here, if electricity is gained from water, then the water is of no use, becuase it would have exhausted its energy

hhaaa ahaaa...

Yup taking away electricity from the water wont affect the water itself. May be the actual affect will be on the wild life i.e fishes.
