Default Plz help : I am confused about everything

I m planning to appear for CSS 2011 but literally unconfident and confused about everything. I am not aquainted with an iota of political affairs and totally dumb in current affairs. I need guidance and kind help from any senior who would like to ...
Anyone who can make my knowledge-base for current affairs and tell me how to proceed???
Waiting for an encouraging reply!

Look mate, what you have been going through is not new for someone who is hungry and desperate about CSS. EVERYBODY undergoes such experience or i would rather call it an odyssey . i am calling it odyssey because u would start enjoying your self once u start preparing for the exam. As far as current affairs and pakistan affairs are concerned watch regularly current affairs programmes on tv, read dawn regularly and also get journals that can be found easily in the book stores. It is not as difficult as u think it is. if we can do it , you can do it better. JUST HAVE FAITH IN UR SELF. MAY ALLAH BLESS U

hi

first of all make your self understand that social sciences have different ways of being tackled...

it's not like maths or physics, where answers are either 2 or not 2.

there are more grey shades in such subjects, u cant find your answers in eiher white or black....thousands of approaches and ideas floating!!!

just do one thing...first strengthen the base..
suppose if u r reading in a newspaper about "the role of media".........u first must understand the skeleton of media!!
what this media is, what are its functions, all related perspectives in relation to pakistani society, say, or any other..then only you can understand and make your own views about media...u can negate the matter as discussed in the newspaper if u have sound knowledge of what it really is...

its just similar to a teacher teaching u...
f=ma.....either memorize the formula and where it shud be used. but the other wiser way is undestand what the formula is and what it means...then in any situation needing the application of the formula, u can handle it wisely!!

hope u got me.
the process is slow but consistency will help you inshallah.

Pakistan Affairs by Imtiaz Shahid is helpful for beginners.
further, you can follow the recommended books..

cheers!!
best of luck and pray for all of us.

hmmmm....
the issue can only be resolved through proper guidance.
self-study is not going to be so much prolific here.
if u can really afford, plz join any well-reputed css preparation academy.
or get in touch with a person who has appeared or passed the css exam.

and plz don't lose the confidence.have trust in THE AMIGHTY ALLAH.
900 candidates hv passed css exam in 2009.
if the same type of result turns out again, i m sure that u may be one of them.

Question

thnx for all of you and your valuable guidance.
But i get confused while reading newspaper when i could not understand the whole of the story behind any peice of news.
So i want to ask where should i start? i mean which topics should i focus first in order to grasp the true essense of current affairs?
Newspaper do not elaborate the complete background of events as i felt, they just put forward the analysis which i failed to understand because of lack of hold on their(of news and current events) background knowledge.

Thumbs up

sady plz buy some journals for understanding the whole issues.
IPRI (Islamabad Policy Research Institute); DEFENCE AND STRATEGIC STUDIES JOURNA; and, CRITERION.
THEY publish the quarterly JOURNALS.the first one also publishes special editions which include burning issues.if u study them regularly, u wl really be able to attempt the CURRENT AFFAIRS paper and also some questions of PAKISTAN AFFAIRS related to current national issues.plz visit this site as well: http://ipripak.org/index.shtml
as u r a beginner, u hv really to work extremely hard.
Dedicate urself to studies completely.
Don’t study for hours but study target-oriented.as some people say that “I STUDY 10 HOURS” some say “I STUDY 14 HOURS and still some say “ISTUDY FOR 16 TO 18 HOURS”.this is really a wrong approach.u shud study under a target-oriented time-table.just give urself a task: THIS MONTH I HV TO COMPLETE ONE COMPULSORY AND ONE OPTIONAL SUBJECT”.
Start wid the subjects that u find interesting and in consonance wid ur mindset and educational background.
Save some 2 months at least for revision.u shud complete the subjects making ur own notes till December.then keep revising them.as much u revise as much u wl find urself at ease in the exam hall.

Ok?
Thanx.
ALLAH BLESS U.

initially, i suggest you to keep reading dawn newspaper regularly. this practice will rescue you in CURRENT AFFAIRS,PAKISTAN AFFAIRS,ISLAMIYAT and ESSAY papers. by doing this practice, you will be able to observe the current and important issues and easily generate your own opinion for any contemporary issue. in later stage, if u feel that u have sufficient time then do read monthly published magazine PRESS REVIEW. it will enhance your grip over current affairs and essay papers.

Thanks alot for this very useful reply!
Can you please tell us where these journals would be available in lahore? I tried a couple of shops but they did not stocked these journals. Going to Urdu Bazaar is not an option for me as I am a banker and don't get enough time. Would appreciate if you can advise any book shop in gulberg/defence/model town/garden town where these journals would be easily available

your tips are good and made me somewhat clear about how to start.
i would like you share your own time table of study, so that i may get some idea too.

and please clarify the exact names of journals that need to be studied. and do one need all publications over current year?
