No, you do not need to score 40 marks in Current Affairs separately, you can have collective 120 marks in Current Affairs, Pakistan Affairs and Everyday Science. It does not matter how much marks you take, their combined marks will be counted.

Yes I am 1000% sure If you can have a look at the Detailed Marks Certificate of the candidates you'll find that the collective result of three subjects i.e. P.Affairs, C.Affairs and EDS is counted as whole.

Its your own choice where to focus more.

well Ali has already replied aptly but to strengthen the confidence of newbie i also contribute...
There are three papers of GK...

GK I (EDS).....suppose you secure 65 marks in it
GK II (PA)......suppose you secure 40 marks in it
GK III (CA).....suppose you secure only 15 marks in it (though i wish you get 50)
______________________________________________
Total = 120 (40% of three GK subjects) you pass all three GK papers
______________________________________________
so now you get my point.....

Only 120 required to pass in general knowledge paper. There is no need to get 40 separately in CA.
