You don't need to go through the whole newspaper but some important topics that are deemed to be.We don't read newspaper for memorizing things but to nurture our analytical and creative skills. You should focus on major issues and just go through them hurriedly.Sometimes it happens that every heading in newspaper seems to be important then just see what is it about.

Dear you do not need to read the news paper at all at this stage, it must be done before three months of exam, as the very title of the paper suggests it is "Current Affairs". The other thing is that the current affairs paper does not mean that everything is asked from news papers, the 80 % questions are those which are core economic, national and international issue for which you have not to be a regular and avid reader of the newspapers.....just make a list of three to four of these issues and see the latest developments in these, i give you some hint, America's war against terrorism, Kashmir issue, Pakistan's relations with its neighbors, major Islamic countries and major powers.....that's it.....people waste a lot of time on newspaper reading which is not at all required, it is an old advice now

You should not skip the newspapers!

As said by other members, you are not required to read the whole newspaper. Only read front page, editorial page, national and international pages, and economy related pages on Mondays if you are reading Dawn. You can also go for Tribune.

Newspaper is not for current affairs only; it also helps in improving the English language skills. Reading through the articles one gets to know how writing is structured, how arguments are given in support of the statements and many other things related to grammar. Also, it talks about the social issues that will aid you in sociology if it is your optional and in the similar manner it is of prime importance for journalism to go through the dailies.

Moreover, as you are a beginner so you should read the newspapers on daily basis. Though it takes more time in the beginning but you will be able to skim through the whole newspaper within an hour. This will come with time and practice. So you should not skip newspapers.

Follow it and your problems will turn to your enjoyments.

Regards,
