please tell me what is soveit union and its involvement in Afghanistan in brief or simple manner because i coud'nt understand its figurative language on internet.

Soviet Union (USSR) was among one of the two super powers till 1990. It invaded Afghanistan in 1979 hich resulted in its Downfall

i would like to add.. it was more of failure of communism.. the defeat on afghan grounds played a smaller role
