before gsp
before gsp pakistan was given the status of autonmous trade preference status in EU from mid november 2012 to 31 december. during rhis period the export trade under EU's trade preference was unpredictable. the zero rated market acess was only to 75 percent. in terms of value, exports increase from one billion to 1.7 billion. export value was 27 percent and volume jumped to 57%.
this shows that the tradecpreference proved to be very benifitial for pakistan. now under gsp pakistan has been given zero_rate market access foe 500 items and that would be for ten years. here it is important to mention here that there would be review after two years. the stauts could be shuned if the products and busniess transaction were not accurated. this status has been given to other SA countries like sri lanka and Bangladesh in past. this status has proved to be verybhelpfull in their GDP growth. this is a golden opportunity for pakistan ti avail its benifits. pakistan has limited number of products namely textile, leather, spirts and surgical instruments. resolving enrgy crisis and creating busniess envirment by insuring peace and stability and increasing number of products are the factors which would lead pakistan to gain its previos status of 70s to becom a regional economic power.
