Reading alone may not be helpful. It's also extremely important to compartmentalize the information and rationalize it's importance/impact on the bigger picture. For example, I have a heading of Balochistan in my National Affairs document. I have further divided the topic into 1) Political Issues 2) Non-Political Issues and 3) Gwadar Port. I put any relevant major happening under the respective sub-heading.

Best of luck!

Frankly speaking I had had very little time compared to my successors do have right now!
What I did, simply drawing up the maps, placing some facts, figuring the all aspects out and than putting my analysis at the end.
Consider for example, cold war doctrine- initiated by Indian combatants.
I drew up the loc, did mention geostrategic impact of such doctrine and drew the conclusion that India has competitive advantage but in case of direct confrontation, Pakistan's short term tetical weapons are more lethal than India's supposition.(its all about mininukes, anyhow nuclear trilemma is a big gambit that is a point of concern for Pakistan)
Anyhow mapping the facts had proven very useful to me in CA paper, and I attempted my paper in the same pattern.

2.Energy(maxmum conservation and least dissipation)
i hope you read about the laws of thermodynamics and that how plants and other small living creatures traps and utilize these photons of lights and other resources of energy

3.Space( ooooppppps my all time favourite)
